Talk:Davies-Meyer hash

Humm.... Does this mean that a 64-bit block cipher (like XTEA) can only generate 64-bit long hashes? --70.109.118.162 05:23, 8 November 2005

With this method yes, then a crypto like XTEA with 64-bit block size becomes a hash with 64-bit block size and 64-bit hash sum size. But there is other techniques to make say a 64-bit block crypto into a 128-bit hash. Or even into a 256-bit hash. --David Göthberg 08:52, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
