[edit] David Gibson (jazz trombonist )
The following is material that I removed from the David Gibson article. This material probably constitutes a stub article but i'm not prepared to research at this time.
David Gibson is a jazz trombonist living in NYC. He was born in Mobile, Alabama. He began playing music as a student at Shirley Hills Elementary School in Mound, Minnesota. Shortly thereafter, his family relocated to Oklahoma. He began exploring jazz during high school in Yukon, OK. Immediately following high school graduation, he attended the University of Central Oklahoma where he studied with Dr. Kent Kidwell and Mr. Lee Rucker. After graduating from UCO, he did his graduate work at the Eastman School of Music, in Rochester, NY. He moved to NYC in 1999, and began to become established as one of the young trombonists on the jazz scene. Gibson joined the likes of saxonphonist Ian Hendrickson-Smith and drummer Joe Strasser in the creation of a jazz-funk based band called "The Hot Pants Funk Sextet +1". The band began performing regularly at the jazz club Smoke. After a five year engagement at Smoke, the HP's have performed in a variety of venues. But, Gibson has established himself on the jazz scene as a member of the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni Big Band and Slide Hampton's World of Trombones. He also performs regularly with the George Gee Orchestra. Gibson has released two recordings on Nagel Heyer Records, in addition to performing as a sideman on many others.
If I should have handled this differently, please advise!Stormbay 21:33, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
There is also a David Gibson of Romney, West Virginia. He fought in the war of 1812 and built Sycamore Dale, which is discussed in Piss Pot Island.
