[edit] Son of Sam
Er, was Son of Sam really a Samhain TRIBUTE? That doesn't seem right. I mean, it was all original songs, and Davey wrote the lyrics... Anyone else think that should be changed? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Krys Nyteshade (talk • contribs) 13:00, 5 July 2005 (UTC)
- --yeah, that doesn't seem right. I mean, two members of Samhain were in Son of Sam themselves. It was probably just a chance for the samhain/danzig guys to get away from Danzig (he's not the nicest fellow, I am told)--but I don't think that's something to say. So, son of sam is just a side-project then? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.108.120.231 (talk • contribs) 23:27, 9 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Birthname
Davey DOES NOT want his real name to be discussed! He changed it for his own reasons! Please respect him and DO NOT DISCUSS THIS TOPIC FURTHER!
-
- What is your relationship to Havok that this topic gets you so fired up? As I've said before, the artist has no input in an encyclopeia entry about him; the encyclopedia shal reflect what he has done/is doing in his life, not what he want the public to know. Are you also currently in a campaign to get the Notable Names Database to erase Havok's 'also known as' name? BabuBhatt 14:43, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
He's birth name is David Passaro. He gets Marchand from his step-dad. I'm still not quite sure what his middle name is. I do believe it is Anthony, though.
Perhaps his real name should be changed to David Passaro Marchand? If you know his middle name for sure, you should include it.
By the way, of course his real name should stay. This is an encyclopedia, after all. It should include all verifiable information whether you want it to or not. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sion6 (talk • contribs) 21:06, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

- --- Why is this debate still going on? His name was listed in an interview as well as the name of his brother, Micheal Marchand, and they also discussed his father who's last name is Passaro. His name was changed to Marchand when his mother re-married. His middle name is Lee, not Anthony. None of this information is a secret and Davey never actually said he didnt want his full name out, I am trying to locate the interview now, I believe it was in an issue of Metal Hammer back in 2003/2004.

OK... now the article is just stupid, in the opening it doesn't mention the name "Davey Havok" at all... when that is who the article is about. It mentions the name Marchand twice instead?... if he was born "Passaro" then don't put "Marchand" as his birth name. - Deathrocker 20:18, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
From an Interview;
- Question: Did your parents split up when you were quite young then?
Davey: Actually my dad died when I was very young - my blood father - but I'd rather not go into that...
And later in regards to the surname & religion:
- Question: What is your Italian surname?
Davey: Passaro. But I haven't had that name for years. I'm not a catholic, I don't really adhere to any of the greater - or lesser - religions.[1]
I took out his birth name after someone added the middle name "Gepetto." While that did make me laugh, it's not true. X stella 21:01, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- If somebody ads "Gepetto" just replace it with "Lee". But do not remove the surname the man himself has said in an interview that he was born as "Passaro". - Deathrocker 14:21, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
"D.A.Marchand" is who is credited in linear notes of older CDs. I'll work on citing this material. - Enzo Dragon 07:59, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
If you're not going to put Passaro then take off the part that says that he was BORN Marchand.
- "Davey Havok" is his "current" name, while his BORN name was Marchand. This is standard for everyone with a stage name. Look up other articles. - 70.16.203.48 05:20, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
No, it isn't. David Passaro is his BIRTHname, as the man himself stated in an interview. Stop being ignorant and read the section from an interview he gave above. He was born as Passaro, but as the interview says, his biological father died when he was very young. Thus when his mother re-married, Davey took on his step-father's name "Marchand".... doesn't mean he was born as Marchand, it means he later aquired it as his legal name. Is that really so difficult to grasp? - Deathrocker 05:08, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- I was only commenting on the decision that had seemed to be made at the time of my post! We had decided, it seemed, that Marchand was the only citable birth name, and that Havok was (of course) his stage name. What I meant was that the sentence (as it was at the time of my post) was redundant, and listed his stage name twice. Not only that, but the grammar besides the redundancy was awful.
- That said, I definitely think the current opening statement works nicely. - 64.222.185.171 09:20, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
what's this i hear about his middle name being paden? LollyLo 05:51, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sexuality
Someone continuously says that Davey is openly homosexual. this is not true - there is no evidence of this. On the AFI website is says he is not gay. stop changing it! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Canucks fan1763 (talk • contribs) 20:17, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Look...I don't care wat u say! I still luv him 2 bits! No matter what his sexuality is! I really don't care! (As long as he prefers girls I'm okay!)
Jade (the guitarist) has posted on the band's message board several times in the past that Davey is not gay. He never came out, your friends lied.
Davey has never commented publicly about his sexuality. What he has done is make comments about being attracted to various women, including Adriana Lima, Camilla Belle, and Keira Knightley. People enjoy claiming that Davey is gay because it makes it easier for them to understand him. Gay or not, the entry stating he has "come out" as bisexual is totally fabricated, and has no place in an encyclopedia. And please, do not comment that this is homophobic. That is ridiculous- this is nothing but an attempt to make this page factual, and not the product of some threatened male's falsities. Belovedone 03:34, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
-
-
-
- -- While I completely agree his sexuality should be left out, if we're going with the idea of him commenting on being attracted to people he has also openly admited an attraction to Johnny Depp whom he refers to as his boyfriend quite often, Jude Law, and several other men. Its easy to make a case for him either way.

Everybody who claim Mr. Havok's gay/straight/bi, I'd really like to see all y'all sources. As far as I know he has never talked about this in public. In every interview - when this question has come up, he jokes it away or makes fun of the journalist. Gothic Embrace 22:07 (GMT+1), 27th October 2006

Can we have something that basically says that his sexuality often guessed about, but Davey refuses to comment? That's pretty unbiased IMHO. The chicken lady 21:40, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Merge suggestion
I suggest merging Glitter boy clothing into the Glitterboy Clothing Line section, as the line was not that important to get its own article. -- ReyBrujo 05:30, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

- Agreed. It should be merged. Dwnsjane2 00:23, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- Motion thirded. Definitely should be merged - though I believe that if Glitter Boy is remade, as Davey intends to do, under the same name, then it may be deserving of it's own article. --Junaos 14:21, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
I don't think it should be merged. Glitterboy is a legitimate clothing line that still has products for sale. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sadieg (talk • contribs) .

[edit] Biography
There NEEDS to be more about Davey as far as his biography is concerned, ie: personal life, childhood, etc.
---I completely agree with u person...i think there should be more about that..but then agian maybe Davey doesn't want people knowing about his personal life....hmmmm
[edit] Era pics?
It seems that AFI has had different 'eras' of style--Davey being a prime example.
- 1994-1997: [2]
- Black Sails and Art of Drowning eras:
- Sing the Sorrow era:
- Decemberunderground/current:
I hope you get the general idea. His looks have changed along with the music--you might want to mention something about this. You don't need to use these particular pics, just mention how his looks have changed with his music.

[edit] Glitterboy/Serious Clothing
"The line was canceled due to Havok sexually assualting the male president of Serious. However, on a side note, Havok has said that it was all worth it; and chances are that it will not be taken to court. According to Havok, it was the best fuck he's ever had."
I do not believe this for one moment. I have never, ever heard anything like this concerning the end of Glitterboy. If someone can substantiate it... uh, fine. Whatever. I highly doubt that this is true, as it contradicts Davey's personal morals (being that he's straight-edge and all) and something like this would've been all over the AFI community in a matter of seconds.
Basically, I want the claim substantiated.
Sinthe 00:50, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
It obviously BS. Delete. Dwnsjane2 17:55, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
That total bullsh**! I'm serious. I have never ever read anything like that and believe me, I've read about 24 different stories about it and they're all pretty much the same. You my not-so-friendly friend, are a BIG FAT LIER! Who takes the Pis* out of other people because you're to bored with your own life! You're even gayer then Davey! And he's not even gay!
[edit] Trowa Barton lookalike?

[edit] Davey's beautiful the way he is!
No matter what Mr. Havok does, everyone seems to find a way to pick on him. Don't. Leave him alone. He's truely a beautiful person who deserves respect. If you can't learn to respect people like him who aren't the same as everyone else, who aren't afraid to be an individual, I take pitty upon you all.
-
- Let it go. Dwnsjane2 01:00, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
If you mean picking on his looks, I'd say he's ugly but that isn't attacking his inidviduality, music or anything else and anyone can really reserve such freedom of expression. This is wikipedia however, so none of this discussion really belongs in this article or even talk page.
[edit] Frequent edits and vandalism
Because of the rate of editing, reversion, and all around vandalism to this article it has been submitted for protection. Wikipedia isn't a tabloid it's an encyclopedia. We report all the facts. It's ridiculous that there is an edit war going on over the use of this mans birth name. -- Kerowren 18:51, 29 November 2006 (UTC) well if you ask me he's pretty nice looking and i don't think about calling someone ugly. [edit] Sexuality continued
The following comments have been taken from "Can't sleep clowns will eat me"'s talk page:
- Once again, you've removed information from an article I watch. This time, the information was cited. I did see your reasoning in the history, but there isn't much other way to cite the info. I would like to say, in the source's defense, that the information is coming from official sources (the official message board, the official myspace).
- In fact, the policy regarding sources only mentions personal websites [13], but I doubt that it means to say that citing the subject's own website is out of the question.
- Of course, this only touches upon the band's 'official' myspace. [14] The other citation, the forum, is an FAQ in the form of a forum post. The forum is AFI's official, hosted on their official fanclub's site [15]. Therefor, I think that it is an appropriate place to cite from, regardless of what format the media is in.
- Even if there is a policy that rejects forum-posts and myspaces as citable sources, I believe that these citations are special cases, and that their inclusion into the Davey Havok article is important to the end of improving and maintaining wikipedia, as per WP:IGNORE. - Enzo Dragon 23:26, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- That is fair enough regarding the FAQ, but it still does not support the leading paragraph. Have there been multiple reports in the news that suggest there has really been such a huge debate over this? Feel free to copy our comments over to Talk:Davey Havok, since this is more of a content-based discussion. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 00:47, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- I could definitely find interviews from big names that would give the impression, if that would be appropriate. I think the quote itself, and the fact that the question "are any of the members gay or bi?" is listed in their list of Frequently Asked Questions, is also proof enough that it's certainly been asked enough times to merit mention.
- As for placing these comments on the talk page, I'm going to do it right now. - Enzo Dragon 10:07, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

I suggest we discuss solutions to this citation problem. - Enzo Dragon 10:13, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
-
- My main concern (at this point) is that we are giving undue weight to the AFI message board FAQ, and are also making claims which go beyond what the FAQ actually states. Rather than rely on what is implied from this single source, it would be best if we could cite additional references which support that there really is a controversy surrounding this issue, such that it warrants a dedicated section within the Wikipedia article. It doesn't look like http://board.despairfaction.com/showthread.php?t=6973#3 has been sanctioned as a reliable source here. So why did a paragraph using it as a source for his sexuality get added (or re-added) to the article? —Wknight94 (talk) 12:13, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
-
-
-
- Then you have not fully read the passages above and understood them. http://board.despairfaction.com/showthread.php?t=6973#3 Was deemed reliable because it is an official source, regardless of it's format. "despairfaction.com" is an official site, run by AFI's member's and those that they appoint. The thread sourced is sanctioned by AFI (including Mr Havok). It is an OFFICIAL FAQ. - Enzo Dragon 00:51, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

-
I'm sorry, but I find it rude to place this qhote at the end of his biography "He is homosexual." so if some one feels like removing it, plaese do. It has been stated by Mr. Havok and his band over and over again that Mr. Havok is indeed heterosexual.

It strikes me that the trivia section for this article is a bit messy and unwieldy, especially with half of it being about his tattoos and half not. I was going to suggest that perhaps there ought to be a section about his tattoos and piercings? In that way, the trivia section could be made neater and easier to read. [edit] Singing/vocal range (cont.)
Considering that I know little about voices, vocal range, etc. I'm not getting anywhere on the vocal research. So, would anybody else on here like to figure out his vocal style, type, etc.? It's changed alot, and with him being a singer, there should be something noted about his vocal style.
