A note from HistoryLink.org the online encyclopedia of Washington State History: The piece about the Davenport is short and mostly right. However, it repeats the myth that Louis Davenport commissioned the hotel, which we have taken pains to correct in our piece (based on accurate research by Tony Bamonte). Business and civic leaders of Spokane commissioned the hotel and chose Louis Davenport to select and work with architect Kirtland Cutter to develop it and then (Davenport) to run it for many years.
