[edit] Pedriska or Pedruska?
This article was a good place to start, but the writing is not so hot. For starters, What is the man's real last name? There are two different versions that I can see: one in the article text, and one in the bio column at right. I'm just sayin'. tharsaile 19:06, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
HELLO TO ALL THE DAVE DUDLEY FANS OUT THERE IN THE WORLD! I RECENTLY FOUND OUT THAT DAVE DIED OF A HEART ATTACK AND THOUGH I AM GLAD HE LIVED A GOOD LONG LIFE I AM MOURNING THE LOSS OF A MUSICAL FRIEND WHO INTRODUCED HIMSELF TO ME 16 YEARS AGO OR SO VIA A USED RECORD BIN IN A STORE THAT NO LONGER EXISTS... THE ALBUM WAS THE CLASSIC FROM 1965 'TRUCK DRIVIN' SON OF A GUN'
I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE AT THE AGE OF 15 THE TITLES OF THE SONGS LOOKED HILARIOUSLY PROMISING SUCH AS 'TWO SIX PACKS AWAY', 'SPEED TRAPS, WEIGH STATIONS AND DETOUR SIGNS' AND OF COURSE THE TITLE CUT. I MUST SAY I HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING QUITE LIKE -- THIS BIG GUY NAMED 'DUDLEY' IN FRONT OF AN ENORMOUS RIG... IT HAD TO BE GOOD AND HECK IT WAS ONLY 4 BUCKS. THAT INTRODUCTION LED ME TO SLOWLY SEEK OUT AND SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THIS KING OF TRUCK DRIVING MUSIC. THE NEXT ALBUM I FOUND WAS 'LONELYVILLE' WHICH FEATURED NEARLY EVERY SONG TITLE WITH THE WORD 'LONELY' IN IT---A CLASSIC ALBUM I HAVE FOND MEMORIES OF COOKING UP SOMETHING GOOD TO EAT LISTENING TO DAVE ASKING FOR A CUP OF COFFEE "MAKE IT HOT AND MAKE IT NOW!" I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT WITH THE HELP OF A DEAR FRIEND I WAS ABLE TO TALK ON THE PHONE WITH DAVE ONCE AND TELL HIM HOW MUCH I'VE ENJOYED HIS MUSIC ESPECIALLY HIS VOICE AND LYRICS . DAVE WON'T EVER KNOW THE FULL IMPACT HE HAD ON ME AND MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY... HIS SONGS SERVE AS A COMMON BOND BETWEEN US
THRU GOOD TIMES AND LONELY HEARTACHES, FOR TRAVELLIN' AND FOR ANYTIME YOU WANTED A CUP OF COFFEE YOU WERE "GUARANTEED YOU'D FOUND YOURSELF A FRIEND"
THANKS DAVE FOR ALL THE MILES YOU SAW US THRU WE'LL KEEP ON TRUCKIN AND SINGING UNTIL WE MEET UP IN THE GREAT BAND IN THE SKY
Hey the second biggest Dudley fan in the world says hello to my favorite friend. It is very sad we never got to meet Dave or see him perform. If you want to hear some Dave Dudley go to Ebay and bid on some old vinyl. There's always a nice selection and the prices are usually very reasonable. Look for anything on Mercury records. George??? George??? Where are ya' George?? No foolin' now!!!
