David Wynne (June 2, 1900 - 1983) was a prolific Welsh composer.
He was born at Penderyn, a village near Hirwaun, and worked as a coal-miner immediately after leaving school at 14. Having won a scholarship at the age of 25, he studied music at University of Wales, Cardiff, and the University of Bristol. He subsequently became a teacher at Lewis Grammar School in Pengam; much of his composing was done after his retirement from this post. The Cardiff University School of Music awards a prize in his honour.
