David Wallace was elected Mayor of Sugar Land in May 2002 and has been widely recognized for his leadership of this fast growing city.

In August 2006, Wallace announced he is launching a campaign for Congress for Texas' 22nd district. He is hoping to win as a write-in candidate to represent a section of southeast Texas that includes Houston and Sugar Land.
