[edit] Biography
David Velez was born on the early 70's in Bogota, Colombia. He started working with sound late in his life right after he finished his college studies on Advertising and Film.
On 2000, David started playing with drum machines and synthesizers with his mate FGMCVP (Fabian Moncada) influenced by artists such as Autechre, Throbbing Gristle and Pan sonic.
Later (after he finished his Film studies) he started working with software and midi devices. On 2005 he was contacted by netlabels Zymogen[1] and Testtube[2] to release the records Retorno a la nada[3] (nominated for the Qwartz awards in the research field[4]) and Seleccion natural[5].
On 2006 David Velez released Data transfer [6] (with Zymogen), a record that he did in collaboration with musician mates Darren McClure, Stephen Walter, FGMCVP and Gurdonark. Later on 2006 he would release Exploraciones sonoras de paisajes surreales y espacios infinitos [7], on Testtube, an ep that would present a more abstract approach.
David currently lives in NYC, where he works on an advertising agency, and he already played live with the EA collective (Gill Arno, Richard Garet, André Gonçalves, Andy Graydon, Ben Owen, and Gil Sanson) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
On January of 2006 french netlabel Standard Klik Music [8] published 6 [9], a record composed by Rafae Flores from Spain and David Velez.
