David Van Day (stage name) (born David Paul Day, 28 November 1956, in Brighton, Sussex) is an English singer in the late 1970s-early 1980s pop group, Dollar. He also was part of the earlier group Guys n' Dolls, and later, Bucks Fizz.
In 2003, Van Day was running a waffle and ice-cream takeaway food stand in Brighton, and then participated in the UK-produced reality television series Reborn in the USA alongside Elkie Brooks and Tony Hadley in an attempt to revitalise his career. They eventually finished 9th out of 9. Since the closure of his business, Van Day is now working in Public relations for a Brighton & Hove based property development company.
This May (2007), Van Day is standing as a "propspective" (sic)Conservative Party (UK) candidate for Brighton & Hovecity council in the East Brighton ward. His latest promotional flyer included his strong wishes for a "healthy national health" and concerns over "the misguided rules of refuge collection". He also claims to "want the use of natural resources, but not to set unrealistic targets". It is not known who, if anyone, proof reads his election material.
