David Small (author)

David Small (born February 12, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American author and illustrator. He was only 2 years old when he began drawing. So he earned a bachelor of fine arts degree at Wayne State University and a master of fine arts degree at Yale University. In 2001 he won the Caldecott Medal for So You Want to Be President?. He also earned a 1998 Caldecott Honor for The Library, written by Sarah Stewart, his wife. Mr. Small and Mrs Stewart live in Mendon, Michigan.
