David Russell (Royal Navy officer)

David Russell was the first captain of HMS Vanguard, the UK's first nuclear-powered Trident submarine. He was born and educated in Leeds and joined the navy when he was 18 in 1968. He is currently Chief Executive of the Harpur Trust. He lives in Bedford with the youngest of his three daughters.
