David Raven (musician)

David McSparran aka David Raven is an American session drummer, known for his work with artists like Greg Ginn, Mastedon, Mark Heard, Amy Grant, Peter Himmelman, Pierce Pettis, Tonio K, Mojo Monkeys, and the rock band The Swirling Eddies (credited as Hort Elvison).

In the 1980s, McSparran worked frequently with songwriter Mark Heard, appearing on the albums Ashes and Light in 1984; Mosaics in 1985; and Tribal Opera in 1987. The following year, the drummer joined the Keaggy Stonehill band for a tour in support of Phil Keaggy's Sunday's Child and Randy Stonehill's Can't Buy A Miracle, under the name of David Raven. Also that year, Raven became a member of The Swirling Eddies, performing on their albums and at their rare concert performances.
