David Pownall A critically acclaimed and prize winning author of plays, novels and short stories David
Pownall graduated from Keele in 1960, in English and History.
He had decided by the age of 15 that he was going to be a writer but it was 10 years, and a period in Personnel with the Ford Motor Company
before he entered the first full phase of his writing life. He was the co-founder Founder of Paines Plough
,received the title of Doctor of Letters and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 1976.
