David Murphy (born 1 March 1984 in Hartlepool, England) is a professional footballer who currently plays for Scottish Premier League club Hibernian.
A defender who plays at left back, Murphy made a trial appearance against Cardiff City in a pre-season match in the summer of 2005 and was signed on a 2-year contract just a few days after that trial appearance. A player that the manager (Tony Mowbray) became aware of through contacts at Middlesbrough, Murphy has gone on to prove a vital part of the Hibernian first team.
He previously played for Barnsley and Middlesbrough.
