David McClune

David McClune (born February 8, 1983) is a Scottish footballer. He plays as a defender. As of August 2006, McClune plays for Alloa Athletic.

A sixteen-year-old McClune signed a contract with St. Johnstone at the beginning of the 1999-2000 season, though he was not to make any appearances for the club until two years later. An occasional placement in defence at the end of the 2000-01 season, McClune scored his first league goal against Dundee United in May 2001. With St. Johnstone having been relegated at the end of the 2001-02 season, McClune lasted just one more year at the club before moving to Division Two side Forfar Athletic, with whom McClune reached the third round of the League Cup before a six-goal thrashing at the hands of Rangers in October 2003. Despite Forfar only finishing in mid-table during 2003-04, the team outperformed themselves the following year, with McClune scoring six goals during the campaign from defence, including both goals in a 2-0 win against Alloa Athletic.

McClune was in fact to move on to Alloa at the end of the following season, having impressed the side during his games against the club, while both teams were still languishing in the bottom three places of the Second Division.

McClune moved to Second Division Alloa at the end of August 2006, making his debut the following month and playing in a Scottish League Cup match two weeks later. He scored his first goal for the club at home to Cowdenbeath in October, though he picked up a red card in the first round F.A. Cup defeat to Stranraer for violent conduct, earning him a three-match ban. Earlier in the season he picked up a knee injury which kept him out of play for the opening matches.
