David L. Bender (Born 1936) is an American writer and editor.

A history graduate from the University of Minnesota, Bender also has an M.A. in government from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. He has taught social problems at the collegiate level and is currently working towards a doctorate in sociology. Bender is co-editor of the Opposing Viewpoints series of anthologies, which presents contrasting viewpoints on topics of contemporary interest, such as social morality and government policy.
