David Kirk (author)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

David Kirk is the creator of the children's books who follow the character Miss Spider. Before Miss Spider, however, he made colorful toys that were sold in hand painted boxes. He was urged to write children's books, when his toys caught the interest of a book packager. It wasn't difficult to figure out what he would use as characters in his stories. His daughter, Violet, had a liking for bugs. He looked to the book The Gnomes' Almanac by Viennese author Ida Bohtta Morpugo for inspiration. His ideas came to life.

The Miss Spider books have been adapted to a children's television show called Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends, and a video game called Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends - Harvest Time Hop and Fly.
