David John Smith

David John Smith (May 20, 1907 – 1976) was the third son of William Smith, 2nd Viscount Hambleden and Lady Esther Gore. He was the head of W. H. Smith from 1948 to 1968. He was also Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire from 1959 to 1975.
He married Lady Helen Pleydell-Bouverie (1907–1976) on July 22, 1931 and had five children:

- Esther Joanna Smith (b. 16 May 1934)
- Antony Frederick Smith (b. 24 May 1937)
- Peter Henry Smith (b. 15 August 1939)
- David Michael Smith (b. 13 November 1947)
