David Jasmine also known as DO-JO is a songwriter and musician, he was born in Hertfordshire, England in 1970. He studied music and music technology in Edinburgh, Scotland at the Wester Hailes education center in 1994.
He began songwriting at this time and after his studies decided to travel to Eastern Europe to seek work as a professional writer.
He first arrived in Poland in 1998 where he managed to get a recording contract with ZPR records (“Polskie Nagrania”). Jacek Skubikowski wrote a Polish translation of one of David's songs titled “T- Shirt” and was released as a radio single. Soon after, David's newly formed pop/rock group “Crush” released their debut album "Adore me".
He had three minor top thirty hits from the album, all of which received good airplay and led to TVP (Television Poland) sponsoring his record and offering a wide selection of TV coverage and concerts. The highest chart position for the release of his songs on radio was #14 “Adore me” from the “Radio Program 3” charts.
Soon after the success of “Crush”, David decided to disband in 2000 and go it alone as a songwriter, believing that he could make more of a success writing for other well known artists.
He went to Sweden and spent the next nine months writing and recording a backlog of material in preparation for his new venture as songwriter.
In 2001 he signed a contract with “EMI Music Publishing Polska” and began his first project writing the text for a song titled “Mr. President” for a well known Polish band “Agressiva 69”. He also helped the group with English pronunciation and proof read their English texts. The album was titled “Agressiva 69” and had a good impact nationally.
During this time he worked with Anita Lipnicka on a couple of songs and invited her to sing a duo with him for one of his songs titled “So Many People”. Anita later teamed up with John Porter and the initial project with David was shelved.
In 2003 David wrote and composed a song with Irek Rudnicki that was chosen by “EMI Poland” to represent Poland in the national elimination semi final televised on TVN. The song was voted number #7 by the general public and failed to make the Eurovision Song Contest 2003, although the song was received well on airplay.
In 2005 David wrote the texts for the debut album of “Blog 27” titled “LOL”. He wrote 11 songs out of the 12 songs listed on the album, and gave English pronunciation lessons to the singers of the group. The album reached #2 in Poland and gave David his first #1 hit single (“Wid Out Ya”) as a song writer. The success of the album and singles have become international in Europe, Asia (Japan), South Africa, Canada and Australia.
2006, David is currently working with Marek Kościkiewicz and Filip Siejka on a couple of album projects due for international release.
He has just finished writing a text for Hania Stach’s second album due for release sometime in the near future. (She won the Polish “POP IDOL” competition).
David lives between Poland and Thailand.
