David Hastings

David Hastings is a fictional character on NBC's daytime drama, Passions. David was played by actor Justin Carroll from 21 June 2001 to 29 March 2004.

When David first came from England to Harmony he claimed to be Grace Standish's photographer husband from before she had amnesia. In reality he was a con man working for Ivy Winthrop who was using him to break up Grace's marriage with Sam Bennett who was Ivy's first love and father of her son Ethan. To further the deception Ivy brought David's son John Hastings from an unknown woman to Harmony so Grace would think John was her son. David eventually fell for Grace and struggled to tell her the truth but was blackmailed by Ivy not to or else she would reveal a secret so horrible David would be ruined. Due to stress in Grace and Sam's marriage Grace eventually left Sam and went off with David and John to work on her supposed marriage with David. Grace left without ever finding out what David and Ivy had done.
Despite all the terrible things he has done, in October 2002, David saved the lives of Julian, Ethan, Whitney and Theresa, after they all became trapped inside an elevator, by using the manuel release to stop the elevator from plummeting and killing all aboard.
Kay Bennett recently exposed Ivy's part in hiring David to break up Sam and Grace's wedding and it has been confirmed that Grace will soon come back for a six episode stint. During this stint, Grace talked to David offscreen. It is unknown what he is doing now that Garce has left him.
