David Guy Compton (b. London, Great Britain August 9, 1930) is a science fiction author who publishes under the name D.G. Compton.

Compton began publishing with his 1965 novel The Quality of Mercy. His 1968 novel The Steel Crocodile (alternate title The Electric Crocodile) was nominated for the Nebula Award.

He was named the 2007 Author Emeritus by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.
