David Davies (born March 3, 1985 in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom) is a British long-distance swimmer.
Davies competed in the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England. Still a teenager, he took part in the European Junior Championships where he won gold in 2003. Specialising in the 1,500 metres freestyle, he competed in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, where he took the bronze medal in a time of 14:45.95 (a British and European record), the European Championships in 2004 and the World Championships in 2005 where he also took bronze.
Davies won the gold medal in the 1,500 metre freestyle and the bronze medal in the 400 metre freestyle for Wales at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
David Davies has now become a well known icon and is the new face of Speedo and has become big in Australia where swimmers become celebrities.
