David Carver

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

David Carver is a fictional character from the Mirror-Image worlds in the Stephen King and Richard Bachman Novels Desperation and The Regulators, respectively.

As is the case with his entire family, the David Carvers of both Earths live at 528 Poplar Street in Wentworth, Ohio.

On the fictional Earth in which Desperation, Nevada is located, David Carver is a young boy who both communes with and is sometimes a partial host to, God Himself. His actions are responsible in large part for saving the small band of survivors from death --or worse --at the hands of the Tak-possessed Sheriff, Collie Entragian, although he loses his entire family in the process, including his younger sister, Kirsten "Pie" Carver.

On the Desperation Earth, Kirsten "Pie" Carver is his younger sister; on the Earth in which The Regulators takes place, Kirsten "Pie" Carver is his wife.

[edit] Death

As is the case with many of the characters in the two novels, David Carver survives the events of one book but falls victim to evil in the other.

The young boy David Carver survives on the Earth in which "Desperation" takes place; however, on the fictional Earth of "The Regulators," David Carver is a family man and Postal Worker who is shot and killed by one of the Regulators themselves, by a double shotgun blast to his abdomen at close range.
