David Carter Casamayor

David Carter Casamayor (goes by Carter) is a retired multi-sport athlete from Florida. He exceled at football, track and field, tennis, boxing and volleyball. More than thirty years after graduating from high school, he still holds many high school athletic records. He was also an Academic All American. He received many scholarship offers but eventually chose the University of Florida from which he graduated in 1984. Carter went on to a career with Orlando of the now defunct AIFL and also played professional tennis on the NIKE satellite circuit. While football was his best sport and the one he is best known for, the highlight of his athletic career probably occurred on Hilton Head Island in 1987 when he defeated a retired touring pro and Grand Slam winner, Peter Fleming, in an exhibition match to raise money for charity.

Carter suffered a devastating back injury that almost left him paralyzed. He recovered but was forced to retire from competitive sports. Carter returned to school and graduated with a law degree. He currently lives in South Dakota but maintains a practise in Florida as well. He is very involved with charities for the underprivileged and has twice won the prestigious "Voice of Charity" award in 1996 and again in 1999.

He is the son of the wealthy, prominent, industrialist and diplomat, Armand Casamayor and his wife, Clare. The family has an estimated net worth of $250 million USD (Forbes Magazine) and Carter has expressed his desire to donate most of his fortune in his lifetime. He is twice married, once widowed and once divorced. Carter is the father of six children.
