During his formative years, Dave played both catcher and pitched at Tredyffrin East Middle School. On a memorable spring day in 1993, Treddyfrin, a junior high baseball powerhouse suffered its worst loss in years, especially with Dave at the helm, to Welsh Valley Middle School. On the heals of impressive batting performances by numbers 16 and 21, Welsh Valley jumped out to a lead in the first inning and never relinquished it.
