David Brewer

Sir David Brewer CMG (born 1940) was Lord Mayor of London between 2005 and 2006.

Brewer was educated at St Paul's School, London and at the University of Grenoble, France.

He began his career with marine insurance company Sedgwick Collins in 1959. He has been a director or consultant for a number of insurance companies around the world, and is currently a non-executive Director of London Asia Capital PLC.

He was elected an Alderman of the City of London in 1996, a Sheriff of the City of London in 2002, and served as Lord Mayor for 2005-2006. He is a past Master of the Worshipful Company of Merchant Taylors

Brewer is married to Tessa Brewer. They have two daughters. He lists his recreations as music, golf, chocolate, and paronomasia.

He was given a Knighthood in the New Year Honours 2007.
