David Blum

David Blum teaches at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, and is the critic-at-large of The New York Sun.
His career began as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, and he has been a contributing editor at New York Magazine and Esquire, and a regular contributor to The New York Times Magazine. In 1992 he published his first book, Flash In The Pan: The Life and Death of an American Restaurant, which was named one of the notable nonfiction books of the year by The New York Times Book Review. He published his second book, Tick...Tick...Tick...: The Long Life & Turbulent Times of 60 Minutes, in 2004. He is also a blogger at the political website The Huffington Post. Since 2002 he has been an adjunct professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
Most recently he was the editor-in-chief of The Village Voice, from September 2006 until March 2007.
