David Bartlett

The Honourable David John Bartlett is the minister for education in Tasmania. He is a Tasmanian Labor politician and member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly in the electorate of Denison. He first entered parliament in 2004 after Jim Bacon resigned due to cancer and votes were recounted.

David was born in 1968 and lived in Moonah and Mount Nelson. His education started at Mount Nelson Primary School, with secondary education at Taroona High School and the Hobart College. David Bartlett completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Graduate Diploma of Business in Professional Management at the University of Tasmania.

Prior to entering parliament, Bartlett had a career in the information technology industry, served as the Manager of the Tasmanian Innovation Centre, and served as an advisor to former Tasmanian treasurer, David Crean.

He was re-elected in the 2006 election, receiving 12.97% of first preferences and topping the Labor vote in Denison, and has been appointed Minister for Education in the Lennon Cabinet.

David is married to Larissa, and has two children, Hudson and Matilda.

David is the patron of several clubs which include: St. Johns Park Bowls Club, North Hobart Cricket Club and Moonah Navy Club.
