David Balfour

"David Balfour" is also the alternative title of Catriona (novel)

David Balfour, whose nickname is Davy, is the main character and narrator in the books Kidnapped and Catriona (which has an alternative title of David Balfour) written by Robert Louis Stevenson.

Upon the death of his father, David sets out to meet his uncle and claim his inheritance. David's uncle tries to cheat him out of his inheritance by having him kidnapped, to be sold as a slave in America. On the way, however, he gets shipwrecked, and befriends a Jacobite rebel, Alan Breck. When they both get falsely accused of murder, they flee into the Scottish Highlands. David is finally able to make his way back to his uncle's house and claim what is rightfully his. He then meets Catriona Drummond whom he falls in love with and marries.
