David Abbott (politician)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
David Abbott was a Halton District School Board trustee from 1997 until 2003, representing Wards 4, 5 and 6 in Burlington, Ontario. He ran for election to Burlington City Council in the 2006 Burlington muncipal election, seeking to represent Ward 5 in the southeast section of the city. However, he was defeated for that position by Rick Goldring.
In January 2007, Abbott sought the Ontario New Democratic Party (NDP) nomination to run in an upcoming provincial byelection for a seat in the Ontario Legislative Assembly representing the riding of Burlington. The seat was formerly held by Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Cam Jackson, who resigned in September of 2006 to successfully seek election as Mayor of Burlington. Brantford school teacher Cory Judson defeated Abbott for the nomination.
