Davenport is a district of Stockport, Greater Manchester in the North West region of England.

With history dating back over 1,000 years, Davenport is listed within the archival Domesday Book as 'Deneport' (sourced in the year 1086).
Davenport's name originated as a result of it's railway station, originally owned by the Davenport family who for centuries have lived within nearby Bramall Hall in neighbouring Bramhall.
Originally Davenport's expansion in the 1850's consisted of three key routes; Bramhall Lane, Kennerley Road and Buxton Road, all of which remain in place today.
The aforementioned railway station is positioned at the peak of Davenport's main junction, which allows for travel towards Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme and Stockport.
The 1900's saw an increase in construction of residential houses and commerical developments, after the aftermath of World War Two saw the need for demolition of larger aged properties for an expansion and creation of permanent residential areas within Davenport.
Davenport continues to be expanded in the present day, as it's appeal to those on the property market increases.

In the 2003 Council elections, the Labour Party retained the Davenport seat with a majority of 359 votes.

Davenport is home to a favoured local shopping community through it's link to Stockport, with a number of local businesses setting up retail ventures within the district.
It's railway station remains a focal point and link for residents, wishing to commute to convenient town centre Stockport, or city centre Manchester. A primary bus route supported by Stagecoach services is also acccessible, with the popular 192 service running regularly through Buxton Road.
Praised for it's continued efforts to retain environmental heritage, Cale Green Park is a popular local attraction for residents of all ages, with its own bowling green, tennis court and playground.
The local public house is known to the community as the Jolly Sailor.

Residents have a breadth of options for schooling, within local Adswood, Adswood Primary School and St Ambrose Catholic Primary School are the nearest options for introductory education.
Davenport's only other educational facility within the village is Oriel Bank High School - an independent option for girls.

Davenport is home to a variety of personalities, some are more well-known to the world than others:
- Sarah Harding of Girls Aloud fame hails from Davenport and was a regular customer of the Jolly Sailor pub.
