He joined the band in 2005, shortly after the release of the band's third full-length album, Strong Tower. Luektkenhoelter also appeared in the music video for that album's title song. Luetkenhoelter was the originally the bassist of the Christian rock band Seven Places, who released two full-length ablums. However, the band broke up in 2005. After this, Luetkenhoelter and Jeffrey Gilbert (the drummer of Seven Places) joined Kutless. Both of them have been members of Kutless ever since then. In 2006, Luetkenhoelter recorded the band's fourth album with them, which is titled Hearts of the Innocent.

Luetkenhoelter enjoyed playing the drums when he was younger, but after getting carpal tunnel in both of his wrists, he moved to the bass guitar. He has since made it his primary instrument. Luetkenhoelter can play a large number of instruments, including guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano, tuba, and trombone.

Luetkehoelter is married and currently lives in Portland, Oregon.
