[edit] Life

Quazi is believed to the first Bengali poet to write under the patronage of the Arakan court. His patron Ashraf Khan was a commanding officer of king Shrisudharma who ruled between 1622 and 1638. There is evidence that both Khan and Quazi were Sufis. Ashraf Khan asked Daulat to render the west Indian stories of Lor, Chandrani and Mayana into Bangla. Daulat Quazi died before he could finish his poem. It was completed years later by Alaol.
