[edit] Synopsis

Das Wilde Leben translates into The Wild Life, also known as Eight Miles High! or 8 Miles High (working title). The German movie, which is set in the 1960s, deals with the "wild life" of Uschi Obermaier, the first known German groupie. She got introduced to sexual freedom at the legendary "Kommune 1" in Berlin through a famous krautrockband named Amon Düül. Uschi from Munich quickly transforms into a model and she rises up to be a sex symbol and a youth icon. She can be seen as cover girl of the Playboy and rockstars like Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are at her feet. Even the infamous Italian film producer Carlo Ponti tries to get her to sign a 10 year contract with him - but she declines. Her freedom is more important to her than a contract. During her intensive relationship with Keith Richards, she suddenly starts to recognize the dark side of the shiny glamour world she lives in. The isolation of the stars, and the groupie-existence in the anonymous hotel rooms - they don't get along well with her idea of life. She finds new freedom in a relationship with the adventurer Dieter Bockhorn (David Scheller). They fall in love and start a 6 year roadtrip around the world. But Bockhorn dies.

"They've found the paradise. Nobody dispelled them. They left by their own choice, because they couldn't take it anymore."
