Hi T.P.K.
Thank you for your note. I am not new to Wikipedia as you seem to think - I have been registered since at least 2004. But I am not a regular contributor. Whilst I appreciate your comments and guidance, I do not appreciate you marking my contribution for speedy deletion within minutes of my posting the first part of my article about Clara Copley. Clara was a legend in Belfast in the 1930's, a period I am very interested in. Her prize fights in the Chapel Fields in Belfast were hugely popular at that time and of immense local significance. The names of the Irish boxers from Belfast who went on to become world champions was included in the article, including my grandfather's brother Jimmy Warnock and the great Rinty Monaghan. Please keep your trigger finger in control! I thought it would be better to put down something early and continue it as my researches continue (I am trying to find more information about the period and will be updating this regularly.

- Thanks! Darryl
A tag has been placed on Clara Copley, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. If you plan to add more material to the article, I advise you to do so immediately. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Mhking 22:55, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Clara Copley
The article you've written doesn't have any sources in it. You presumably got the information from somewhere, but where? You'll need to produce these things so that others can help with the article, and ultimately make the subject fit WP:BIO. ColourBurst 00:31, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
The article now has reference. Darryl
- Also, Darryl, when you use a source you can't simply copy the source, you can use information from the source, but you have to use quotation marks if you do copy it directly. This is probably what the issue was with the article that led to the request for speedy deletion, although I don't know. Anyway, I fixed it up with some information on the boxers, and removed the copyright violations, which have been deleted from the edit history, also. The article will be fine. She sounds interesting, and I suspect there are plenty of local references to her in newspapers in the library with a stable of boxers like this, even if only before they started boxing professionally. Let me know if you have any questions by posting on my talk page. Thanks for taking the time to create an article on a colorful, if obscure, woman in the world of boxing, as I think it adds overall to Wikipedia. --KP Botany 01:27, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. I appreciate it and aspire to do better in the future! :-) --darryl

- You're welcome. There is an article in a Belfast paper that we should try to get. She sounds like an interesting character. I had never heard of her, but I know boxing in Belfast in the 30s and immediately post-WWII was incredible. It was fun to be reminded of this. KP Botany 01:27, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

- Where did you see reference to the Belfast paper? Any idea which one it was? Belfast Telegraph? Irish News? Newsletter? Rgds Darryl
[edit] Billy Warnock
I nominated an article you created for deletion. Please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Billy Warnock. Of course, no offence is intended to you, but I don't think the article as it stands asserts notability. Best wishes --Guinnog 18:30, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- I understand you are unhaapy which is why I let you know. If you want to contest the deletion, you can go to the deletion debate linked above. Incidentally it may be better not to edit articles on one's own family, see WP:COI. Best wishes, --Guinnog 19:04, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for responding. I have gone to the deletion debate and made my point. I understand the WP:COI stuff, but it is difficult to feel conflicted about someone fighting in the 1930's, family or not. Darrylxxx 19:21, 20 January 2007 (UTC)darryl

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Jimmy_Warnock.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Jimmy_Warnock.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Shyam (T/C) 07:16, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. I have added the Promophoto tag. Not sure if I need to do anything extra. The photo was clearly a boxers promo shot so I think this is the appropriate tag.
