[edit] Wikimedia UK/Wikimania 2006

Hi, this is a circular to Wikipedians in Ireland to draw your attention to Wikimedia UK, where the establishment of a local Wikimedia chapter for the United Kingdom (and possibly for the Republic of Ireland) is being discussed. See the talk page, as well as the mailing list; a meetup will take place to discuss matters in London in September, for anyone who can get there. On another topic, plans are being drawn up for a UK bid for Wikimania 2006, which would be conveniently close to Ireland. On the other hand, Dublin's bid was one of the final three last year - might we bid again? --Kwekubo 03:33, 31 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Vote on moving Lost (2004 television series) to Lost (TV series)

Hi. Just a quick note that we're voting (again) on renaming/moving the LOST article, this time to the shorter Lost (TV series). As you were a participant in the previous vote, please register your support or opposition here: Talk:Lost (2004 television series) Thanks! LeFlyman 05:24, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

Happy Birthday!

Here's a tasty Birthday cake. Best wishes to you! Hope you enjoy your day. Now, get on out there and have some fun! ;)

Happy Birthday Darranc! Hope you have a great day. --Lord Voldemort (Dark Mark) 15:21, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Airdates of Lost

Is there any reason why you're using a customized table style instead of a Wikipedia style? Jtrost 13:43, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

If you have no objections I am going to revert your edit and use a wiki table. Jtrost 21:45, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
I thought it looked better, and with the huge amount of information, it fitted in better. I got it from List of Desperate Housewives airdates. Change away if ya want! Ablaze 09:56, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] EuroMillions

Do you have a source for the updated GBP estimated values, or are they simply taken from the latest results? (The latter is not reliable for an estimate, for obvious reasons) Same with the EUR/CHF figures, are these official figures for estimates (back of payslip, etc). In other words, are these just offical figures for a particular week, rather than offical estimates? I've raised a note on the talk page of the article, please reply there to keep things together. [edit] Image Tagging Image:Kisc staff.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Kisc staff.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. bluemask 10:54, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] disapearing page

hi ablaze. got a question for you.. i was contributing to the "list of Gaelic fooball clubs" but then it disappeared completly . it was a link on the gaelic football page. is this vandalising or something else? also any record of it disapeared from my contributions...Eleutherius 16:18, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi Eleutherius, I tracked down the user that deleted the page. It was deleted on the of March by Gator1. I have asked him where the discussion on this articles deletion is on his talk page, so i guess i'm just waiting for an answer! Ablaze 16:14, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

It was speedy deleted, so there was no discussion. It was asked to be deleted, because "Every town in ireland has a GAA Club, this list is basicly a list of towns of Ireland . Most of the links dont go too GAA clubs or information that is relevant" Making it "patent nonsense" in my opinion. It met the following criterion for speedy deletion: A1: no context and A7: Unremarkable people/groups .

If you disagree, please let me know how it doesn't meet those criterion and I'll consider undeleting and nominating for AFD so others can discuss it. Thanks.Gator (talk) 16:16, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Fair enough, but not every town in Ireland has a GAA club, its not spread out that simply. Take Cork for example: http://www.gaa.ie/page/cork.html There is a few Town Name GAA Club's, but there is also more like: Na Piarsaigh and St. Vincents. Maybe the page would be good to list all the clubs or just create a page as needed for each club. Ablaze 16:54, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

ablaze, thanks for the hunting down of gator! I see his point or though I dont really agree that its just a list of places in Ireland. You are right that there are many clubs without links to a specific town or parish. Also in my own area there are parishes with more than own club e.g Dripsey football club is in inniscarra parish which also has a team of its own. I guess the hope is that people would supply the links to the clubs. There are a great many out there. That would make it an interesting page. Thanks again for your time.Eleutherius 21:01, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Talk to Getor and see if he can see your point. Else you can put it to the Irish Wikipedians' and see what their view is. I agree with you, it would be a good reference for for the GAA Ablaze 21:57, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Scouting article work

If you are getting this, it is because you do or did work on Scouting articles (see Wikipedia:WikiProject_Scouting#Participants_and_primary_areas_of_interest).

As the Scouting WikiProject has been formed since early January 2006, we've had many great improvements made in this area of Wiki and I want to personally thank everyone for their help. We don't always agree on things, but we keep moving forward. YIS, Rlevse 22:09, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
