[edit] D-Tay

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to D-Tay. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! Kimchi.sg 16:41, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Copyrighted images

Please do not replace existing free images with copyrighted images such as you did to The Black Eyed Peas. Additionally, please refrain from uploading any more images unless you are willing to correctly identify the source (the copyright holder), provide an accurate license, and include a detailed fair-use rationale for each use of a coyrighted image. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously. --Yamla 14:26, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

You have been blocked for 24 hours for continuing to upload images without the mandatory information. --Yamla 14:33, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Doctor's/Devil's advocate

Hi, please try not to move pages by cutting and pasting the text. The GFDL, which you and everyone else puts their edits under so wikipedia can be free requires an editing history to be kept. You should go back to The Devils Advocate (album) and place {{db-author}} at the top. From there, wait for an admin to delete the page for you. Then go back to The Doctor's Advocate and click the tab marked move. Enter The Devils Advocate (album) into that box, and the page will be renamed properly and the history of editors] will be preserved. Thanks. Kevin_b_er 06:27, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unblocked

Okay, you've been unblocked as per your promise to stop violating Wikipedia's copyright and fair-use policies on images. --Yamla 19:08, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked

You have been blocked for 7 days. Despite your word that you would stop violating Wikipedia's copyright and fair-use policies on images, the very next image you uploaded violated the fair-use policies. --Yamla 15:07, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

You have been blocked for one month. You persist in violating Wikipedia's copyright and fair-use policies despite promises not to do so. Specifically, you uploaded Image:Sho'nuff Records.jpg without providing the required detailed fair-use rationale and you uploaded Image:DJ Toomp.jpg with a blatantly false rationale. --Yamla 16:56, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
You have been blocked for six weeks. You know full well that you are not permitted to violate Wikipedia's image copyright and fair-use policies and have previously agreed to stop doing this, yet you have continued. --Yamla 19:12, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] It's Pimpin', Pimpin'

Please stop reverting the redirect on It's Pimpin', Pimpin' until the album actually comes out. User:Zoe|(talk) 03:16, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

"It's Pimpin', Pimpin'"+"Katt Williams" gets a grand total of two Google hits. I'm not all that sure that Katt Williams deserves an article, but an unreleased album definitely doesn't. User:Zoe|(talk) 03:27, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Uploading

You said: "I wanted to know if i could upload an image. But I am not very good at uploading images. Could I upload the image and if it improperly cited you could just delete it and not have to block me."

Yeap, just note on the image page that you are not sure whether or not it is appropriate. And leave me a message for me to check it out. Alternatively, you can leave a mesage here indicating where the image is located on the web and which article you plan to use it in. Note that we aren't permitted to use copyrighted non-freely-licensed images to depict living people. --Yamla 14:57, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

You said: "I uploaded an image and im not sure if it is uploaded with the correct information needed. I dont know how to put the link to the photo in here. It is the image for this article, The Runners. If it is not correct please go ahead and delete it."

I've removed the image. WP:FUC requires that we use freely-licensed images to depict living people, so we can't use this one because it is copyrighted and not freely-licensed. In general, when adding a copyrighted image to an article, you need to explain why it is fair to use it in that article. Why is it necessary to use an image at all? Why this particular image? Why not a free image? Why is it particularly unlikely that the copyright owner would take offense? You also stated that this was a promotional photo from an issue of XXL Magazine. We cannot use photos from inside a magazine, and promotional photos must come from a press kit. That is, you need to provide evidence that this came from a press kit (or promotional kit). Certainly, XXL Magazine would not be the copyright holder in that case. This is a lot of information to take in in one paragraph. If you'd like me to clarify any bit, please feel free to ask. As you can see, there's a lot of requirements. If it strikes you that Wikipedia seems to actively discourage copyrighted images with lots of policies and requirements, you are most certainly correct. We much prefer free images. --Yamla 01:24, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

You said: "What are some sources for "free images", is myspace considered as one?"

Some of the images on myspace may be released under a free license, most aren't however. If you find an image which states it is released under most Creative Commons licenses or the GFDL or is public domain and the source of the image is reliable (so, fan sites claiming that images are public domain are not reliable, see WP:RS), you have found a freely-licensed image. I estimate probably 99.5% of the images on the Internet are not licensed under a free license, however. The Creative Commons article has some links to a way to find freely-licensed content. Flikr can also be a source, though again most of the images there are not freely licensed. --Yamla 01:31, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

You said: "What info would I need to upload a cd cover from amazon.com? I've seen many album cover images with nothing but the link for the source."

It's a copyrighted image, so source (in this case, the name of the album), license, and detailed hand-written fair-use rationale justifying each use. Plus, it may only be used to depict the album. You can't use it, for example, to show what the singer looks like. --Yamla 02:44, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Collumns?

You asked: "Yamla, how do you put a list of things in to collumns?"

Sorry, I don't know, I've never done that before believe it or not. --Yamla 00:38, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Onerepublic.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Onerepublic.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:09, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
