[edit] Argument for Arnos Grove tube station being in Arnos Grove (i.e. not New Southgate)
Here are the main points in my argument:
1. Arnos Grove is not a new place that has just been made up - see this map from 1881. (Arnos Grove and Arno's Grove Wood are to the north-east of Colney Hatch (now known as New Southgate), which was the only substantial 'village' in the area at that time).
2. Numerous shops, facilities and events are advertised as being located at Somewhere, Arnos Grove rather than Somewhere, New Southgate.
3. Bus stops surrounding the area, served by buses heading towards Arnos Grove/New Southgate, bear the informative statement 'Towards Arnos Grove', and buses passing through the area have a sign on the side saying 'via Arnos Grove'[1].
