[edit] Interests
[edit] General interests
As of March 29, 2007 (today), I'm most into anything technology-related (as usual). Specifically: computers (i.e. Windows Vista), high-end and new releases (i.e. iPhone). I am also very interested in participating in the world of business (yes, I'm a nerd), but I tend to look at it as a true form of enjoyment. Just recently, I have become a very big fan of the Diggnation shows, mostly because I can relate to them on such levels (mentally). Also, I would like everyone to know that I do idolize many internet celebrities and plan to attend many tech events and computer conferences (like Macworld) when I have the time and money to travel (hey, I'm just a high school freshman, and my parents are totally in the dark about anything tech-related, so, yeah).
I am also a bit into marksmanship, firearms, and police. I have always been directly interested in any police-to-suspect action, this being primordially fueled by films. After a short while, I deviated from fictional law enforcement and became quite absorbed in real-life situations. I regularly watched shows like COPS and World's Wildest Police Videos, eventually leading to me playing games like GTA. Following that, I decided to watch raw police footage from the internet, which proved to be a much easier task than waiting for TV shows to come on. Web sites like Ebaum's World met my video desires for a time, until of course I had watched all its videos. I then looked around for better sites until I found PoliceVids.com, which has yet to be booted from my list of favorite sites. I must mention the fact that I sometimes just watch these videos just to get a good laugh (i.e.: "Cop Loses Car", "Insane Chase", and "Gun-safety Expert"). Because I also employ more than enough interest into paranormal topics (i.e. UFOs), watching these police videos gets even more interesting. Pertaining to this is a video entitled "The Ghostcar".
If I ever decide to actually join the field law enforcement (probability: 50%), I would most likely choose to be a regular street cop. To suit my more scientific tastes, I would probably end up as a weapons annalist.
Another more periodically considerable interest of mine has been visual effects and film-production. I have researched many special effects techniques and remain fascinated by how hard it is to make a movie. I have considered working with Industrial Light and Magic, a special effects company. These are the guys who make those impressive and realistic looking effects on most movies. I basically consider them the best in the industry and would like to end up as part of their crew.
In relation to visual effects, I have had ample practice in the field of photo manipulation. I am always looking for tutorials on certain things pertaining to Photoshop, a habit which has lead me to the acquisition of such skills.
Another big interest of mine is computers (see next section for more detailed information) and I'd probally be the right person to ask if you have a problem. I can do things on it that average people can't. About 98% of all the things I know were self-taught. I have been good on computers since about age 11 and over the years have spent my time reading and searching for tutorials and then putting them into action. I do not take computer classes or have anyone else helping me out. Many people often ask me how this is possible, even after I explain things. I have found many tutorials and other things of the sort over on Google and by looking at what others have done.
Aside from designing stuff from scratch, I also like tweaking things done by others. I like messing around with new skins for Windows, viewing other softwares' coding, (legally) hacking into them, customizing them ect...
Other interests of mine include (but are not limited to): NASA, UFOs, conspiracy theories, police, advertising, and video gaming.
The next sections are more detailed accounts of my "career" in the computer world.
[edit] Web design
I have made several websites which I lost totally interest in. Here are some of them:
[edit] RuneHelp
Visit site
This was actually my first try at a full-blown website (I had many other practices with smaller projects). I started the site in the Fall of 2005 because at that time I had been playing a popular online RPG game called RuneScape. There is a site called RuneHQ, which served as my ispiration for RuneHelp. Anyway, I only knew the basics back then and I just made the logo a big deal. After a long while, I got really bored of the game and figured that playing a game all day and even making whole tutorial sections on it was kind of low-key.
RuneHelp's progress was ended in about May 2005, although everything I did on it is still available for viewing.
[edit] Potter Village
Visit site
Potter Village is a fansite that I devoted 2 months of my summer to. I was really proud on how I had designed the graphics myself (with Microsoft PowerPoint), since I basically was an amateur at it back then. So anyway, the site is a Harry Potter fan site I had originally planned to keep publicly noticed for a while. Even so, I knew that the Harry Potter fandom was going to end quickly in a few years and in time was going to lose the huge popularity it currently has. Also, the site that inspired me to create Potter Village (MuggleNet) was simply to well known by the fans and I was never going to capture the great audience it had. So in the end, I simply stopped working on the site and posted a note telling anybody who wants to run the site to contact me.
[edit] The Middle School Connection
Visit site
MSC is the web site I plan to use as an online version for my school newspaper (Belleville Middle School). There already is an online version (not made by me) of the newspaper, but if you see it [1], you'll know it was made with very little knowledge of coding.
So anyway, the idea to make the newspaper more accessible and better looking online came to me on November 4, 2005. I got started on doing the layout and its graphics and ended up with pathetic logos and other things. I didn't like it and abandoned the few files I had created for a few days.
Then, on November 7, I sort of planned a new design for a layout in my mind. I got to work and made the basic logo and header I planned to use. By the end of the day, I had found a good way to encoporate the images into something decent looking and put everything online on a server (see the first version of the site here). I didn't like the way that looked and once again abandoned the site's progress.
On January, 2006, I told one of my teachers that I had started the basis for the site. He was impressed, even though it was looking very incomplete. That sparked my interest in the site and once again resumed the sites progress, trying various web hosts until I found one named T35. So I tweaked up the layout a little and got the site on the new server. If dissapointedly found out that there was one major problem with the layout: it was viewed correctly only on a 800x600 screen resolution. I had to go back and remake everything over the course of about 2 weeks (it could have been done in about 5 days, but I didn't feel like working on the same thing all day and every day). So, with that problem fixed, I began inputing the newspaper archives into site, an action which I will continue to do until the "grand opening" of the site.
I would like to clarify that one major acomplishment of this site was that I made it about 70% PHP and therefore making the site more dynamic and easier to browse.
The site is currently on hold, as I am in high school.
[edit] DP Creations
Visit site
DP Creations is a project I have started solely for the reason of organizing everything I've done on my current computer (meaning as of September 2004, since I have no records of the files I had on computer prior to that date). In doing so, I will have my own personal art portfolio, which I predict will be essential when I apply for a job in the field on design. That means that I have until about the year 2010 (I'll be a freshman at collage) to constantly publish my "creations" on the site.
I consider the making of DPC the most time consuming task I've done. Not because I was at it every day, but simply because I kept restarting from scratch due to the fact that I wasn't satisfied with what I had done. If I remember correctly, I designed the first developement version of DPC on March 25, 2006. I wasn't pleased with it and as the weeks went on, I pried out many new versions of DPC that I didn't like. I even stoped working on it for about two weeks once, hence I was getting tired of not getting that "techy" effect I pictured in my mind.
Anyway, as of March 2007, I still have not debuted the site entirely and still remain with the task of tweaking problems that almost always show up. Like I mentioned above, I still have about four years to get this site to its final stage, which is way more than enough time.
- This section is based on future events. Please note that some details of this section might relatively change
EDIT 9/06: Just as you have read, some details have changed. In fact, almost all the details changed; I have become disinterested in web design and will probably not continue with DPC.
[edit] Other minor website projects
Apart from being the owner of some sites, I have also worked for others. I have worked for a few sites, although I have left them and joined others. As of 03 2007, I am an (inactive) staffer at Nexus Creations
[edit] Graphic design
I also like making graphics and photoshopping pictures. I used to like drawing during my elementary years. That was back then. Now I have powerful programs and simply drawing with a pencil doesn't suite me anymore.
[edit] Photography
I am very much into photography and photo manipulation. This will be until I reach a higher hierarchy, most likely special effects.
[edit] Other interest
- NASA (space shuttle, Apollo Program, ISS)/Rocket science
- Police/Law enforcement/Guns/Firearms
- FBI/CIA
- UFOs, Bermuda Triangle and conspiracy theories
- MythBusters
[edit] Music interests
Genres: Rock/Alternate Rock/Metal
Artists I like:U2, Hot Action Cop, Gary Numan, Kasabian, Irving, System of a Down and a few more...
I used to like techno ... that lasted for about a year (which felt like 5 ... I'll tell you why if you personally ask me) until I went through a bit of a revolution and conformed to my current likings. During this revolution, I removed about 2GB's worth of music, about 400 songs. I had originally stopped listening to them a bit before this deletion, but I seemingly convinced myself that maybe sometime in the distant future I would look back upon my childhood and regress to what would then be refered to as classics or something.
I have a very slightly varied music taste ... New-age music, cinematic scores, and electronica are all blended in there. Overall, about 95% of the music I like is all techno. I first got hooked onto this when heard Benny Benassi's Satisfaction, and from there I just decided to download every techno song I could find. Before this techno crave, I didn't really listen to any music, as none of the popular genres suited my liking. Techno inevitably lead to club music, along with house and electrinoca. Songs that have a techno feeling to them but are mixed with other genre of songs like classical also suite my likings, these songs being typically found in movies like Mr. & Mrs. Smith. I must mention the fact that techno is more popular in Europe than the U.S., which I find odd since it's used so much on marketing.
Another reason I find techno most appealing is because I have an interest in the movie industry. I currently don't have any ideas on any short cinematic videos (such as fan-made game trailers), but I'm certain something will come up.
[edit] General list of skills
- Photo manipulation, intermediate
- Web programing:
- HTML, advanced (further interest is null)
- [CSS]], advanced (further interest is null)
- Javascript, intermediate (further interest is null)
- PHP, beginner (further interest is null)
- Web design (further interest is null), varies from intermediate to advanced, depedending on how appealing it looks
- WinXP customization:
- Msstyle skin building, beginner; I do not use any skin-rendering software (such as StyleBuilder, SkinStudio) and do it the hard way, which is by directly editing the resource files
- Writing: I have not mentioned this before, but I consider my self a writing prodigy ... at least for my age. Over the years, reading so many books and spending time on my computer has developed my writing skills to a fairly high level, I'd say. All the English-related teachers I've had can show you proof of this, as can my Science teachers. Another reason I think of myself as superior in writing is the fact I have been going to school for 9 years and over time it has become quite obvious to me that children my age do not apply such cunning efforts into the field of literacy. I have certainly come to the conclusion that these kids do not wish to attain such skills, as is with all other academic subjects.
My writing skills are also what have enabled me to acquire my fairly high grades, averaging from A to B. Throughout high school, I will try to maintain a perfect A average, with my motive being recognition and of course a full scholarship towards collage.
[edit] Trivial stuff
[edit] Favorite films
I am fairly picky when it comes to favorite movies. Modern R-rated comedy (i.e. Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo etc.), action/adventure, science-fiction (i.e. The Island, Species), and peacefully set films are enjoyable to watch, I think. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a certain type, which occasionally turns out to be odd movies like Book of Love.
Aside from watching films as an audience member, I'm always watching them from a critic's perspective. This critique could be technical, as when I make little mental notes on camera moves, visual effects etc., or simply opinion-based conclusions on certain events.
Carrying on, below is a list of my favorite films ordered from the most recent. The green/green-blue ones are ones which I absolutely consider in the top 5. Link less entries were either started but not finished or are ones I would like to see:

[edit] Films I think are one of the WORST EVER MADE
Even though I accept practically every film I see as a good one, there always is that little clump of them that I positively despise of. Below are movies I think have been a complete waste of money and time, with a shorthand reason why I think so next to it:
- Kung Fu Hustle: Extremely illusive, does not resemble modern-day films, looks more like a Loony-Toons show, and has virtually no plot
[edit] Most used software
- Photoshop
- Firefox
- AIM
- Winamp (media player)
- Ares Galaxy (I had to switch to this because of some internal issue on LimeWire)
[edit] Wikimedia Contributions

[edit] Future Plans
Here's a rough layout of what I plan to do after school:
[edit] Collage
I am about 80% sure I will attend collage, although I don't have a particular one of choice. In general, I would like to go to a tech-based school (like MIT), a high-achievers school (Harvard University), or some other job centered collage.
[edit] Jobs
I am about 60% sure the top item on my list of career choices would involve technology. The other 40% would go into business, something I have always been interested in. Starting my own source of profit would be fun, as would living the relatively simple life of a large corporation employee. Working for companies/departments such as Microsoft, Industrial Light & Magic, Dell, NASA etc. is pretty high on my mind.
I am also very interested in joining a government agency, such as the CIA or FBI. In the recent years, things like police and military have come to my likings. I would adore being a cop, but I am 95% sure I will not be joining a police academy anytime soon. This is because of that fact that I am determined to get into something big, this being one of the reasons I will try to succeed academically. I guess guns, cops, military and things of that nature can be left for fun and not career, unless of course something happens and I'm not academically successful... (probability of that: 10-25%).
[edit] Other things
Current school: Belleville High School, NJ
Current course range: Academic
Current grade: 9
