[edit] Also a mild racial slur (nope, not)
"Darkie" is also a term referring (generally condescendingly, though not necessarily with deliberate insult) to African Americans, as in Stephen Foster's "'Tis summer, the darkies are gay" in "My Old Kentucky Home". - Oops, I'm wrong, that's "darky". - Jmabel | Talk 01:21, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thai toothpaste
Darkie is also a brand of Asian toothpaste that features a minstrel style African person as its logo, produced by Hawley & Hazel. Sold in Thailand and Taiwan, possibly elsewhere. Murple 04:56, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- Worth a mention at darky iconography rather than here. - Jmabel | Talk 02:27, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
