Darren Yap

Darren Robert Yap ia an Australian actor and theatre director.

The third child of a Sydney general practitioner, and a fifth generation Australian born Chinese on his mother's side, Darren Yap was educated at Newington College. At tertiary level, he studied theatre at the University of Western Sydney and directing at the National Institute of Dramatic Art. Yap was Australia's first M. Butterfly, with the Melbourne Theatre Company, and was resident director during the original Australian production of The Boy From Oz. In 2000 he was an Associate Director Sydney 2000Olympic Ceremonies. Australian musical production appearances include Miss Saigon and Chess. He has appeared in the ABC television productions Heartland, Leaving of Liverpool and Children of the Dragon. Most recently he has been on stage in the Griffin Theatre Company 2003 production of Songket and the Queensland Theatre Company 2006 production of Constance Drinkwater and the Final Days of Somerset. He is a director for Peter Darren Productions, a production company that produces commercial stage works.
