Darrel Rundus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Darrel Rundus (born 1966) is a Christian businessman and founder of The Great News Network, an international Christian evangelism ministry. In the 1990s, Rundus founded Circulation Promotions Unlimited, Inc., a large newspaper sales & distribution firm.
In 2003, Rundus teamed up with evangelists Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron, and their Way of the Master ministry. The following April 2004, they invited 35 people to visit the Way of the Master headquarters in Los Angeles for their first Evangelism Boot Camp, for four days of street witnessing and open-air preaching in Southern California. Many camps have followed since.
On June 1, 2006, GNN was raided by the United States Secret Service for the million dollar bill gospel tract, originally printed by Comfort and his Living Waters Publications group. 8,300 of the tracts were seized. Rundus and ministry employee Tim Crawford were threatened with arrest (with charges of "concealing evidence") if they did not turn over the tracts, although no warrant had been issued at the time. In a news interview, Rundus stated that he will continue passing out the bills, stating that "until I hear different, I don't believe what the Secret Service did yesterday was lawful," and is expecting a "cease and desist" order from the USSS Monday, with possible legal action to follow. In late January, 2007, Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron announced that Livingwaters and Way of the Master ministries were withdrawing their support from the Great News Netowrk (due in part to the letter sent out by Darrel Rundus shown below). Comfort and Cameron indicated they would no longer be endorsing, supporting or recommending the Great News Network to friends and supporters of their ministry.
Rundus currently lives just outside of Dallas, Texas, with his wife and children.
