Darko Žlebnik (born July 3, 1951) is a Slovene writer.

Žlebnik was born in Maribor, Slovenia. Although he was proportional late stepped on Slovene literarily scene (at the age of 45), his first two books ended up on very noticed place. Criticism and readers accepted him to the best of advantage. Statistical data from lending libraries ranges him awhile on the top of borrowing lists and reviewers generally assessed him as already made, convincing and eccentric literal personality.

  • Who´s next? (Kdo je naslednji?) (1996 - Mavrica) (COBISS)

Thriller – occurring is put on place of United States. It´s author thesis concerning origin of AIDS as another in a row of conspiracies against humankind. The book is written almost as scenario and it´s full of large dynamic and sequence of interesting turnabouts. Because of realistic events as well as realistic procedures of characters, the book is an parody on American films this genre when main charaters own supernaturalness as a rulle.

  • Adultery (Prešuštvo) (1999 - Študentska založba) (COBISS)

Psychological novel about timeless phenomenon, close to everybody, wrapped into dynamic story. In such environment author dissects woman and male soul splendidly.

  • Horrible adventures (Grozoviti dozivljaji) (2006 - Stella) (COBISS)

Author´s view on humor through the collection of short stories. About content Zlebnik says: »These are real, true, horrible adventures from the beggar´s bag of heroisms. Is also eccentrically unbelievable accidents, fully is comic, of unwise, of degrading, but also of interesting moments that we can understand them as contribution to history of my asininities and asininities of some respected individuals.« 

  • Excellent misters (Njih gnade vrlaki) (2006 - Stella) (COBISS)

Grotesque - The book is written in a certain arhaic language and speaks about condition of spirit and features of Slovenes through pivotal events in time of Slovene indenpendence. Main characters are visual politicians of this period: dr. Janez Drnovsek (as Alfonz Zvsakimgre), Janez Jansa (as Ignacij Vednonaprezi), Marjan Podobnik (as Pepe Modriha), Borut Pahor (as Jokl Vednopredspeglom) and Lojze Peterle (as Ljubiteljski duhovni).

  • He cooperates as a writer of text at the book Maribor – impressions (Maribor - impresije) by photographer Danilo Cvetnič
  • As coloumnist he publishes over 300 contributions in different newspapers and magazines (Slovenske novice, Večer, Revija Golf, Golf Kapital).
