[edit] Player Profile

Walker is often known by experts as a patient runner. He often waits for the hole to develop on his offensive line and then takes off on a run. Many say he has NFL Draft consideration because of this technique. Experts say the pro coaches will consider him to be a pro running back because he has running qualities that are comparible to Warrick Dunn and Edgerrin James. In a press conference on January 11 2007, Darius Walker announced that he would skip his senior year and declare for the NFL draft, and has recently received an invitation to the scouting combine in Indianapolis. He has stated that he will complete his Notre Dame degree at a later date. His agent is Drew Rosenhaus.

[edit] High School

Walker attended Buford High School where he won multiple State AA Championships and broke Herschel Walker's high school rushing touchdown record.

[edit] College

Walker set the freshman rushing record with 786 yards, on 185 carries, and 7 rushing touchdowns in 2004. He also had 10 receptions for 74 yards. He played in 11 games and started two of them. As a sophomore in 2005, he rushed for 1,106 yards on 237 attempts and had 6 rushing touchdowns. He opened the season with four consecutive 100+ yard performances and scored three touchdowns during Notre Dame's loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes during the Fiesta Bowl.

Walker's last game with the Irish came on January 3, 2007, in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Sugar Bowl. The Fighting Irish took on the LSU Tigers, losing 41-14. It was a disappointing loss for the Irish, who came in with high expectations. Darius Walker totaled 128 yards on the ground and 30 yards through the air.

He announced he would leave Notre Dame for the NFL in a press conference a week after the Sugar Bowl. He recently expressed that he would like to play for the New York Giants.[citation needed]
