[edit] Synopsis

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Lawndale is threatened with a hurricane, and the cast bursts out into song.

Another Lawndale morning begins, as the Morgendorffer family gleefully sings its praises, with the exception of Daria. Briefly turning on the TV in the kitchen, a weather man who looks like Al Roker warns of a possible hurricane heading toward Lawndale. Few seem to heed the warning, and Lawndale High even hold a pep rally to psych the students and faculty up for an upcoming football game. Deploring the mere thought of another pep rally, Daria and Jane retreat to the roof.

At the pep rally, Ms. Li announces that both the rally and the upcoming game are cancelled due to the oncoming storm. Students and staff start signing about their fear that the town will blow away. Kevin suspects the hurricane is a government-sponsored hoax designed to botch the upcoming game and convinces most of his teammates to think the same way, but Brittany tries to distract him from his paranoia by offering to make out with him in the storage shed on the roof.

Daria and Jane join the chorus with the rest of the school, but sing with glee instead of fear or suspicion. Unfortunately, they stumble on Kevin and Brittany making out in the shed and, due to Kevin's clumsiness, get stuck in the shed with them. Now the prospects of the town blowing away don't seem so bright.

At the office, Helen tries to get as much work done as she can despite the fact that the rest of her co-workers are going home. Her boss Eric almost makes a pass at her but is called away to another appointment. At Cashman's, the fashion club is busy picking out clothes as usual when they're chased out because the whole mall is closing, Quinn being the only holdout. From the office and the mall, Helen & Quinn sing about not being able to leave (Wendy Hoopes performs double duty here), but both grudgingly agree to leave as well.

Jake frantically drives home expecting to find the rest of the family there safely only to find Daria missing. Suspecting she might be over at Jane's, Jake and Helen call the Lane residence only to find Trent at home sleeping through the storm. Helen demands that he comes over to the Morgendorffer household.

Frustrated with being forced to sit back and do nothing while Daria and Jane are missing, Jake offers to brave the storm to find them. Helen and Quinn try to convince him that such a venture would be suicidal and he's simply pretending to be overly macho, but Jake rebuffs their accusations. "Who do you want in an emergency? Superman, or your damn inner child?" Jake sings about the meaning of being manly and, though Helen tries to get Trent to talk him out it, Trent agrees with Jake, and they go out to pursue Daria & Jane. They don't get far before they crash the family car into a nearby tree.

Things begin to look bleak for Daria, Jane, Kevin, and Brittany as the shed becomes dangerously unstable. Daria, Jane, and Brittany sing their own version of the Manly song as Kevin tries to break out. The storm finally ends just as Kevin crashes his head through the door. All parties sing about the end of the storm (only Jodie and Mack seem less enthusiastic about it). Daria and Jane finally arrive home, and Trent hugs Jane, and then Daria (something she was seeking for quite a while). A crowd gathers around the Morgendorffer household as the camera zooms away from Lawndale.

Spoilers end here.
