Daren Ganga (born January 14, 1979 in Barrackpore, Trinidad and Tobago) is a West Indian cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm offbreak bowler. He has captained the Trinidad and Tobago cricket team, the West Indies A team and the West Indies Under-23 team.
Ganga got lucky when a scout from Georgetown recognized him and recruited him for the under-16 world tournament
Having had a steady, but unspectacular tour of Australia in 2000/01, he didn't manage to really make his mark until a set of back-to-back centuries against Australia.
In July 2005, he was voted Trinidad and Tobago's Cricketer of the Year following a successful Carib Beer competition, during which, in a match against the Leeward Islands, he scored 265 runs in a single innings. In April 2006 he was one of six players shortlisted for the captaincy of the West Indies cricket team. The other candidates were Denesh Ramdin, Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Sylvester Joseph, and Brian Lara. In April 2006, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) chose veteran batsman Brian Lara as captain.
Despite being a player who is in and out of the side, Ganga impressed in the recent Test series against India, scoring a career best 135 in the third Test in St Kitts and Nevis.
