[edit] Hello, DantheCowMan!

Hello, DantheCowMan! I'm Clamster5. While creating new and interesting articles is extremely helpful to the Wikipedia project, there are more than 19,000 articles that need to cleaned up. These articles could use your knowledge and time. There are so many pages currently needing clean-up that there is guaranteed to be something that you find interesting. Even fixing up just one is a huge help. If every editor on wikipedia edited just one article each, the backlog would be cleared in no time.

Thanks! Clamster5.

[edit] P.A.L

Thanks for your work on the P.A.L discography...I've been meaning to get to that for awhile :) The-dissonance-reports 03:22, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Compact TOC

Thanks for showing me how to make a compact TOC through your work on Lists of songs about food and beverages. There are other lists that I will improve with this tip. Grika 14:39, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dead and feeling un-noticed?

Nobody send a welcome note to me and I noticed it's a sort of a custom. By the way this is from Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers

DROPS PANTS AND MOONS :: (________(__________)

nice isn't it... and then a bit later

Fart.

What a warm welcome.

I'm NOT into vandalism like that dude (though you got to admit he makes us laugh). Anyway I have some remarks about editing albums and I hope you can help me, since nobody else didn't even noticed my comments about this topic.

In the chronology box there should only be studio albums, usually excluding lives, compilations, singles and EPs according to Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums. But EP's, compilations and live albums also have chronology boxes. If the one off these chronology boxes previous releases point to studio albums, then someone clicks on the studio album and no longer has acces to EP's... surfing the chronology box. I hope you get the picture. So I think that chronology boxes should include ALL releases (plus various other reasons you can find on Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Albums). Not to mention there isn't even a color assigned for Singles and so on.

Also I have few other questions! If you have a script like this one [1] how do you run it let's say through an edit window (if that's even remotly possible, this isn't my specialty). Also why do people use complex HTML instructions like in a album review box with
  • Guide
  • when just
  • puts the first square and other is done easily like
  • Guide link and thats it. Please give me some basic info on this I haven't found any on wikipedia editing instructions. This looks crazy on your talk page check the edit talk page for correct formatting of my VANDALISM.

    It's a bit long, sorry Dan! Death2 22:51, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Plus also forgot to ask do you add all your edits to your watchlist. I didn't cause it would be too much since everybody changes something rapidly. And how do you track recent changes other than through Special:Recentchanges. See ya! Death2 22:55, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

    Answered @ Death2 - Dan, the CowMan 12:16, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Thank you. Excited? Yeah, maybe. Last night was a wild ride. It was a vandalism outbreak! There were a couple of good jokes and funny comments but there was also some very weird stuff. Very strange? Death2 19:48, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

    [edit] The Shamen

Hey, thanks for fixing a potential dab problem with The Shamen's Drop album vs your new article. I guess I should turn The Shamen's link blue now huh? :-) --kingboyk 05:19, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

    [edit] Dan Donovan

    Your split looks good.

Are you looking to join the tribe of dans ?

    [edit] Speedy Deletion

Thanks for the advice on my Cancer Bats page. I had no idea it was a 7 day process. Avenged Evanfold 04:19, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

    [edit] Star Trek

Many thanks for the new navigation template. I was just about to do something similar, but yours looks very good. Let me know if you have any suggestions for what the feature next on the portal. Pydos 19:37, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

    [edit] The Insyderz

You reverted my copyedit of this article from "is" to "are". "The Insyderz is" is correct because "The Insyderz" is a collective proper noun. The page was originally written using "is" as well until User:Ian Moody changed it to "are" because he is from Britain. Yes, it is correct to use "The Insyderz are" in British English, but in American English, we use the singular form for collective proper nouns. For example, we say "The United States is a country" not "The United States are a country" because "United States" is a collective proper noun. If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this, you can reply here. Thanks! —RJN 07:34, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was actually reverting User:Chunk fingers edit (diff for his revision, diff for my reversion, diff for your edit). That aside I did live in Britain for 5 years and even started school there and written English can sometimes confuse the hell out of me. Thanks for the English lesson. Anyway - good day, Sir. Dan, the CowMan 07:50, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
I am sorry I thought you reverted my edit—I should have checked carefully. I changed something else the first time I copyedited and forgot to change the top part of the sentence. —RJN 09:01, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

    [edit] Talk:Mercenary

I do not want to spend time arguing about an archive of talk:mercenary, so I have archived the page with a move, although I do not think it was necessary. It is not at all clear to me why you wanted to archive the page as you have not contributed the talk page or to the article.

Moving is better because there is an audit trail. I have had the experience in the past of people accusing me of altering the archive page when archiving it. It was only because the history of the page was saved with the archive that I could prove easily that it was not tampered with. One can always copy back the last subject from the archive page onto the live page, if the section is still live. As this will be at the top of the archive history this is relatively easy to prove that it is untampered with, also the current editors can check the copied material. This is something which is difficult to do with conversations months or years old which is what happens with copy moves to archives. --Philip Baird Shearer 01:23, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

    [edit] Discography for Dallas Holm

Just another note of thanks for cleaning up -- I appreciate your help! 1diot 16:46, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

    [edit] Track listings

Please use another, reliable, source before assembling the track list for an album. Luke 17:10, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

    [edit] MerleFest it is.

The article has now been moved to MerleFest, and Merlefest is a redirect. I eventually got help after some admin with good intentions removed by speedy delete tags twice. Now, I'm going to fix some of the links so that they can bypass the redirect. -MrFizyx 01:16, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wrongly placing "Star trek" template on pages

Please be more careful, Terran Confederacy is clearly nothing to do with star trek. The template you placed on Talk:Terran Confederacy has been removed. --Col. Hauler 23:00, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

I placed that (apparently accidentally) well over a month ago. No need to scald me now. Dan, the CowMan 00:51, 7 May 2006

    [edit] Album infobox conversions

Hey, I noticed you were once active at converting old infoboxes. Well, I've found a bunch that need converting, as I noted here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums/Needs infobox conversion. Cheers, Alcuin 03:51, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Peer Review of The W's

I will look at the article over the weekend when I have time. As an aside, since you seem knowledgeable in at least one Christian ska band, maybe you can improve that article as well. What do you think? EdGl 20:09, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Justin McRoberts, and my surprise

So, I was just about to drop you a message here, letting you know I'm planning to do some serious work to Justin McRoberts in the next few weeks and have just started the process today. If you'd like to help me out, feel free to check in over there as I'm working on it, and hopefully, together we can make it even better.

And as I was about to say all this, I got a message from you asking me to check out The W's peer review. Freaked me out. Any way, I'll hop on over and see what I can do for it. -- Pepsi2786 20:51, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I actually have all but the Untitled EP, so I should be able to do a solid job on him. And I don't own any of the W's, so I won't be a whole lot of help there. -- Pepsi2786 21:32, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Universal Records Logo.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Universal Records Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] LGBT Project Template

Hi, Dan! Just curious about your page User:DantheCowMan/working/tsx? -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 15:07, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Kewl - thanks for letting me know! While you're playing with the templates and functionality, check out the "nested" bit - that's for use with {{WikiProjectBannerShell}}. You can see an example of it at Talk:Timothy R. McVeigh (not the terrorist). And if you implement that "nested" functionality, let me know. Thanks again! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 15:56, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

    [edit] Sufjan Stevens

Hi. When you list the Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music as a reference for Sufjan Stevens, what exactly is it a reference for? If it is not specific it should probably be under "Further reading" (although there is slim value in pointing people to another encyclopedia entry). -- Dhartung | Talk 05:16, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Its just general, It is a short section, published early in Sufjan's carear. Dan, the CowMan 05:22, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
