[edit] International rugby league
Great to see all these new articles, good work! Grinner 12:58, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
Hi, my name is Rodney McDonell. I recently became a user because a I felt that the rugby league information on wikipedia needed to be more strutured. See what I have in mind at User:POds/Rugby_League. POds 10:23, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
- Good to have you on board. If I seem a little quite, thats because i'm working in my wittle Sandbox. I've got major updates planned for the rugby league page. I'll think about making the project an official wikiproject soon. Thank you. POds 15:18, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Superleague
G'day Dan,
just wanted to say good job on the Australian superleague article! --fuddlemark (fuddle me!) 12:43, 16 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Suncorp stadium
nice work on expanding the suncorp stadium article, but do you think you could site your source. especially the bit about being built on a cemetery in the intro (do you think this should be in the intro as well?). Nomadtales 06:24, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
- sorry I see you have added the source part to the page. need to look more closely. nice work again. Nomadtales 06:36, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject A-League
Hi Danmiles, I noticed you've contributed to pages related to the A-League competition - I started a WikiProject for it, and thought you might be interested in participating. Thanks! AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 05:38, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] AFL Queensland
Hi Dan,
I note your recent changes to the AFLQ page. I'm a little perplexed though. You've removed parts relating to the competition's history, its best players, its current teams, its current location... Why are these not relevant to an article about that competition? --The Brain of Morbius 23:42, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- The article's title is AFL Queensland, but the majority of the content refers to AFL history in general in Queensland, and to precursor organisations. I have started work on an AFL in Qld and am seeking sources. Would love your help with this. :) --dan, dan and dan 00:01, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
-
- Fair enough about sources, but I think that things that clearly refer to the AFLQ should be reinstated to the AFLQ page, such as the list of competing clubs and the AFLQ Team of the Century. I'll see what sort of references I can dig up. --The Brain of Morbius 02:14, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
-
-
- Ok. The clubs were already there, but I have put the team of the century stuff back on the AFLQ page.--dan, dan and dan 04:52, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
-
Oh, and it would be helpful to know what parts of the new article you feel require research and references.--The Brain of Morbius 23:46, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- There don't appear to be any sources for this article.--dan, dan and dan 00:01, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject AFL
A WikiProject for AFL has finally been set up. You may consider joining.
Also, you may list yourself under the Rugby League section of WikiProject Rugby. Thanks DaGizza Chat (c) 04:19, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] football
The Victorian Rules folk are trying to claim that Aussie Rules is an Australian variety of the game when it is very distinctly a Victorian variation of football and was codified in Victoria many years before the beginning of Australia. If you share the same opinion I would love for you to come to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Football and give your opinion.
All the best

[edit] Brisbane WikiProject
Hi Dan. I just dropped by to let you know that I am trying to revive the Brisbane WikiProject where you're listed as a member. You may have recently noticed the new list of suggested tasks on the project page. There’s also a new 'Recent Activity' section on the project talk page. You might like to add any Brisbane related articles that you've been working on recently to the list to encourage others to join in. If you have any comments on how to improve the project, please share them on the project talk page. Thanks. -- Adz|talk 06:51, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] North Queensland Cowboys
G'day Dan,
just wanted to say its great to see people such as yourself helping the north queensland cowboys page grow. I have done some further editing and hope that what I have done currently is ok with you. Your work on the dairy farmers stadium site was fantastic. I realkly like the structure of the Brisbane Broncos page. It is a little messy too but I do like the content it holds. Would it be ok with you if I added content similar to the broncos page to the cowboys page where fit? --Bradley O'Neill) 14:30, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- Dan, perhaps you may already have, i'm not sure, i'm trying to stay far away from this problem as possible :). But could you stop editing this article. Perhaps put up a banner directing would-be editors to the discussion and discuss your changes.
- Your changes are huge, I think we can agree on that. It would be polite in this instance to fully explain your changes to said article because this has largely been one persons sole peice of work on wikipedia. It has taken a lot of time from this person and now this person is feeling extreamly distroit at what they see as nothing more than vandleism. We need to sort this out ASAP.
- So put a halt to the editing and start a discussion on it. Thank you. POds 02:31, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RWC
Yeah sure dan. I think its a good idea to have the links on both pages. I have been doing a lot of work on the RWC page lately, and I think, approaching the 2008 RLWC, we should see a flow of history and other info that we can use for the league article. Should be good. Anyway. See ya later. Cvene64 03:23, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi I just encountered your posts after deleting the link to RLWC from the RWC pages. What do you think is the best way to link the two: 1) in the See Also section; 2) at the top of the page; or 3) with both. Personally i think that having both is overkill and am happy for either option 1 or 2 or any other suggestion. Cheers. Soundabuser 03:49, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks man. Also, if you have any suggestions for it, don't hesitate! See you around. Cvene64 06:45, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bundaberg Rum Test
The word Anzac is protected in Australia and requires permission of the Minister for Veterans' Affairs for use in commercial events. Permission was given to the ARL for a period which has now expired and the match has been named after its sponsor, Bundaberg Rum. All offical ARL publicity refers to the Bundaberg Rum Test. Needless to say, media outlets either because it was originally named the Anzac Test or because Australia and New Zealand are competing sometimes still describe the game as the Anzac Test.
I hope you do not mind but I have updated your Anzac Test entry to reflect the legal position.
The media are not covered by the Anzac Regulations since they are reporting the news and not sponsering the event. However the ARL is covered and its website and media releases only use the description Bundaberg Rum Test. --Grandfinal 07:35, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] You are testing my patience
What is it you have against my North Queensland PAGE? The article is very informative and to the point. I am getting sick and tired of you and others targeting my article continually saying its too long. It is information you guys appear scared of?. The Sydney Roosters page is twice as long as my article. So why arent you picking on them? The Brisbane Broncos has hardly a stich of information in it and they are an old club? Why isnt that page being considered for deletion? It has such pointless uninformative information. Especially crud like famous supporters. Leave my article alone. You are not supporting the spirit of rugby league by picking on the site. Leave it in peace and everyone will get along! [[Bradley1956 12:01, 14 May 2006 (UTC)]]
[edit] 10th anniversary team
I would like the North Queensland Cowboys 10th anniversary team placed back on the Cowboys article please. This is an important part of the Cowboys history and I believe it should be in the article. I dont mind so much the grand final team having been removed but the 10 year anniversary team is important. Also why has the logo timeline for the Cowboys been removed?. This is an important eliment too. If you look at the sydney roosters article they have their old logos on there. So could that also be placed back on there. Other then that you have done a good job considering what you had to do.
[edit] Re: NRL Page
Thanks very much for the support. Hopefully this new format should last a while, and maybe I might even try pushing it for featured status once a few more things are done. Cheers, --mdmanser 06:56, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I saw what was happening. Although with all the chaos there I doubt there is much of an organisation to run things. but I do remember them, like New Caledonia, playing a few games a couple of years ago. Keep up the good work. Mattlore 23:57, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Footy Club
Hi, I am trying to introduce a club for rugby league supporters that will be more than just a wikiproject and help to encourage rugby league participation and article improvement. I have written down some of my thoughts about what wikileaguies should attempt to do and would be interested if you, like other rugby league supporters, would be willing to be involved on some level. [1], leave signage and thoughts on the talk page if you are interested. Cheers. --Rugby 666 08:22, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Central logo.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Central logo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 20:18, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WPRL Article Improvement Drive
Hey I've noticed you're a regular on rugby league articles, particulary NRL ones. I need your advice on something I'm thinking of starting up on the project. Many WikiProjects have Article Improvement Drives which have different levels of success. I'm thinking of starting one up for this one too, but instead of voting on an article I would rather strive to improve one NRL club every fortnight and bring it up very close to featured status. Now it seems as though there'd be a lot of work involved, but there are also a lot of club fans out there who'd probably be willing to participate. Basically there are 30 weeks in the NRL season and there are 15 club pages that are not yet featured. I propose that we all have a schedule to work on one new article every second round, in alphabetical order. By the end of the season hopefully we will have 15 near-complete, if not complete articles. My only concern at this stage is the dedication of editors to help out other team pages that they are not interested in. Basically in order to get the support of editors like these, we need a few leaders in the project. If you are willing to dedicate a bit of your time every week into this and if you have any further suggestions, could you let me know at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rugby league/Article improvement drive? Thanks, --05:58, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Broncos 1997
Mate there's no need for a Super League Tri-Series page, it's covered in the Super League (Australia) page. The broncos list was just fine with the asterisks.--Jeff79 01:42, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
I put asterisks into the game lists around origin time as the post-origin slump might be a point of interest for some readers. I'm aware that broncos players also play for the New South Wales and Australian teams. But this is not the point. Are you now going to go through all the years and add notes for all representative fixtures featuring broncos? There is a discussion on the Super League (Australia) page regarding a split of that article into Super League War and Super League Competition pages. Perhaps you should make a comment there about the existence of a separate Tri-Series page.--Jeff79 02:22, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
