Although most correspondence should, and does, take place on my user talk page, there are situations where it may not be appropriate, or it is better to play it safe and have the conversation privately for whatever reason; use common sense. This is particularly important when dealing with OTRS issues, or in some cases, mediation issues. There are various ways to contact me privately. These include:-
In recent months, I have received a number of emails from the media noting their interest in securing my services to assist in compiling a news feature about Wikipedia. Please note that I am not an official representative of the Wikimedia Foundation; I am a volunteer who also serves as an administrator and assists the Foundation with emails from the general public. If you do wish to interview me, please email me at the above address using your press email, for verification of legitimately being a member of the media. When emailing, indicating your preference for either telephone or email correspondence. I will reply as soon as possible, and we can take it from there. |
I have formatted my talk page archives in groups of 30. If you wish to revisit an archived discussion, please make sure you post a link to the archive which holds the archived discussion when adding a new message to my user talk page, or else I won't know what previous discussion you are referring to. The main directory for my archive pages is located here. This page contains links to the archives, as well as the history of those archives. It also has a column which details the time span for that archive; if you need to find a previous discussion, identifying the date the discussion was held on and using that column will be the most beneficial option. A quarterly breakdown of Archives is listed below. For the purpose of this list, Archive 1 (which began on March 11, 2006) will be included in the third quarter (July–September), as it is the only one in the second quarter of 2006. Third quarter, 2006 (July–September) Fourth quarter, 2006 (October-December) First quarter, 2007 (January–March) Second quarter, 2007 (April–June) In addition, I have a number of "special" archives for various things. Please see the bottom of the main archive directory for details. |

Thank you to everyone who considered my nomination for adminship over the last week. I am humbled by the feedback this discussion received - 233/3/3 (99%) - and I must acknowledge my genuine surprise at such an overwhelming result. Thanks hugely to Sarah Ewart, my nominator. Sarah is someone I have become great friends with during my time here, and is someone who I unreservedly respect. Her every action, every comment, is an attempt to improve Wikipedia and Wikipedians, something not a lot of people can say about themselves. I barely knew who she was until two months ago - I have since learnt that she has gathered the respect of a lot of other Wikipedians as well as myself - and her attitude has always been brilliant and friendly. In addition, thanks to my seven co-nominators. Especially, thanks to Newyorkbrad, who, like Sarah, I have become very good friends with over the last two months (incidentally, Brad and Sarah are great friends also, making this some sort of cosy friendship triangle). Brad has very similar circumstances to myself - we both joined about the same time, have very similar interests both in real life and on Wikipedia, very similar methods of discussing and acting on Wikipedia, and was promoted with similar RfA results a week apart after being both nominated by Sarah . He is certainly no "has-been"[1], by any stretch of the imagination; rather, a top-notch person and great Wikipedian :) As I stated in the RfA discussion, I value peoples' comments that analysed my contributions highly. In particular, the people who expressed doubts - not only the oppose/neutral, but also some of the support - have given me another, added incentive, to work hard and learn from their comments. In addition, thanks very much to the couple of users who asked me customised questions, which in turn allowed them to make an extremely informed decision. In tribute of dodgy RfA clichés - 17-or-so in my RfA - here's one of my own masqueraded in the form of a generic RfA thankyou statement (by "generic", I really mean "copied from NYB with slight modifications"...):As I stated in the last paragraph of my answer to Q6, I am first and foremost an article writer and editor. To ensure this, I would like to reaffirm my pledge that I made during the RfA process: I honestly mean to stick to this and I encourage anyone to give me a kick-up-the-proverbial if I'm failing to do so. I find my "story", for want of a better word, to be one that exemplifies why I believe Wikipedia really kicks ass: forgiveness. I have made some stupid and pathetically ridiculous comments - to say the least - way-back-when, and to see a consensus of users say "you've obviously reformed, that was an exception to the rule, come on in" was, for me, a reassurance that Wikipedia will continue kicking for many years to come, rather than imploding. Thanks everyone for everything over the last six months - to all those who have taught me everything they could about being a good administrator, especially Luna and Glen - I owe you one. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 11:09, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
