The vote move is, of course, within your prerogative. While I continue to hold that reservation (and would never oppose an ArbCom nomination so ficklely), I do feel that your measured reaction is indicative of a move toward a more judicious temperment. I hope, regardless of the outcome, you continue to participate in dispute resolution in whatever available capacity. You clearly have the smarts; just try not to take policy disagreements personally. Reasonable people can differ, and nobody thinks you haven't got the necessary candlepower. Pop Secret 23:17, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

WP:RFCU
I made a request on Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Cute 1 4 u. I don't know what to do with it. Should I put it on the main page (WP:RFCU???)--Ed ¿Cómo estás? 03:54, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- I listed it this time, but for future reference:
- If you make a case about a user, and their RFCU/Case page hasn't been created before you did, then it will be listed automatically.
- If you are adding to a page which has been created before you (ie. a second check, as is the case with C14U), the big gray box gives you the steps to use.

RFCU Clerks
As we are appointing some new clerks and there will need to be someone experienced to help them out, and Thatcher & Srikeit have been brazenly stolen away by the Arbitration Committee, I am appointing you to be Head Clerk for the RFCU clerks. I added the info of one (or more) anonymous IP involved in the dispute to the request; I am unsure how to proceed, now, as I a) cannot be sure if it is one person or multiple, and b) cannot decide how to best contact this person if his IP is indeed switching. What do you suggest? - Che Nuevara 18:17, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'm 99% sure it's two different people - one's based in VA, USA whilst the other is in ACT, Australia. I could say, however, that 24.136.99.194 and 24.39.123.238 are likely to be related, if not the same. I would suggest listing the two 24. IP's as one party; ie. {{userlinks|24.136.99.194}}/{{userlinks|24.39.123.238}}, and treat them as one party. If the IP is switching between the two, post any messages of importance on both talk pages. Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 22:30, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

- Only the one Calton removed was a copyvio - the one left isn't, from my extensive googling.[1] Anyways, if they were both copyvios, Calton would have removed them both - if he removed one, he would have been urged to check the other, I'm sure. Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 11:54, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Metalocalypse trivia page
I'm not trying to start an argument, but it seems to me that you're hellbent on 86ing the page. Would a merge with either the episode or show article be sufficient? Read my note along with my merge vote, and you'll see why I'm so passionate about this, never mind that I'm a fan of the show. --DodgerOfZion 00:26, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm not passionate about this either way, nor have I ever seen the show; more just making sure what is in our encyclopaedia is what we should have, and that blatant vote-soliciting, like what happened for this, doesn't result in a false concensus. Trust me, if I was hellbent on deleting this, you'd have seen a lot worse of my "bad side" :) Anyways, regarding your merger idea, there's a lot of OR, unverified material, and although WP:TRIVIA semi-discourages it, I would be happy with a slight cut-down, some good, detailed sourcing (see WP:RS), and then a merge into either one of those you suggested. Probably the episodes would be easier - having a giant trivia section on the main article page would be overkill, just as the current article devoted solely to trivia is. I've copied this response to the AfD page. Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 00:33, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- My response to this is on the AfD page as well. --DodgerOfZion 00:49, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

{{helpme}}
Yes, tragic, isn't it...anyways, I was just wondering if anyone could help me work out whether the image of the guy on the right (Paul Crutzen) of [2] is applicable with [3] - I honestly can't find any disclaimer that this image is released into the PD, and hence need help regarding identifying whether it does or not. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 06:56, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think it is PD since it says "Photograph courtesy of Paul Crutzen" which suggests to me it is being used with permission rather than being a PD US Gov image. Sarah Ewart 07:05, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Set of warnings for persistent copyvio
Hello Daniel. I saw your name/statement on WikiProject user warnings and decided to contact you about the current lack of warnings for users who persist in adding copyrighted content to an article. I've seen that happening a few times and there was never a proper set of warnings for them. Would you agree with the creation of these warnings for copyvio similar to the {{test}} templates? Best regards,--Húsönd 02:43, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

- Well, erm, yes please, if you'd gladly have the work then sure. :-) I'll watch your work for future reference on creating warning templates. Best regards,--Húsönd 04:35, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- {{Cv4}} as a final warning; the rest of the levels are covered by {{nothanks}}, {{nothanks-add}}, {{nothanks-drm}}, {{nothanks-sd}}, {{cv}}, {{cv-r}} and {{Usrcvtext}}. Not the greatest bit of prose, so feel free to tweak as required :) Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 05:27, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

- You should do it, as some checkusers are known for being lazy at times :) However, make sure it is very brief and concise - I know Essjay refuses to read anything that takes over one screen of text, and is hesitant of anything between 2/3-to-full :) Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 05:41, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- Added links. Does it look adequate or should I show anything else? -WarthogDemon 05:46, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

- If you aren't appointed to the Arbitration Committee this year, I think that at the rate you are going you will be a superbly qualified candidate by next year and I hope you will remain involved. In the meantime, though, if you aren't becoming an arbitrator soon, that releases your vow not to seek adminship in the next three years, and I would encourage you to do that. I think it's time, you can use the tools, and you've long since overcome the issues that were problematic for you the first time around. Regards, Newyorkbrad 15:17, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

False sign protected on Canuckster user space
Thanks for trying to instill a semblance of fairness and accuracy for Canuck. Some here are insisting on carving blatant falsehoods in stone[5]. 65.95.150.180 21:10, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

- I blocked it for an hour. Ottawaman uses dynamic Bell Sympatico IPs and so the IP blocks don't stick. I've been thinking about trying an anon only range bock (I believe that's how they handled him on Wikinews where he's community banned) which is why I've been keeping a record of the IPs he uses, but they seem to jump around on the ranges. Sarah Ewart 23:35, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- I can't find any traces of him on WN (where, admittedly, I've only been contributing for a month and probably don't know much about), but if an effective range-block can be used, then I'm sure everyone would approve of it. Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 23:38, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

- Hey Daniel, that was kind of freaky! I just got back online (had to go to bed as I'm working night duty tonight) and thought I should make a note on the SSP that Neutralizer was the most likely puppeteer, and then checked his account because I wasn't sure if it was actually blocked or not. When I clicked on his contribs, I saw he'd just posted on Essjay's page. It sounds like he's getting worried that he is going to be reported to his ISP (which he is). Would you mind reverting that last edit? Since it's about me, he will probably scream "cover up" again if I do it. Thanks for all your help and support with this, daniel. You've been fantastic. And I take it I have you to thank for arranging the range blocks with Essjay? That was a fantastic thing to discover when I came back online. Thanks again mate, :) Sarah Ewart 06:43, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- The rangeblocks you can thank Essjay for - I merely told him the SSP page. I'll revert Essjay's talk per this, and just a note, if you wish, I offer my assistance in any way, shape or form in filing that abuse report. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 06:45, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks Daniel. You've been fantastic and I look forward to you getting sysoped. It'll be great when you can just go ahead and do things like that block as you need, rather than chasing up an admin. Sarah Ewart 06:57, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, it's not hard to chase one down most of the time :) Anyways, no problems for today - it was mainly watching ANI for trolling etc., following the leads, and then getting users blocked for a couple of hours, which isn't terribly difficult. My offer regarding filing the abuse report is still open, and always will be for you. Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 07:20, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry Daniel. I was AFK--my dog made me take him for a swim. :)
- It looks like Luna has taken care of those pages. Thanks for the offer to help with the abuse report. I think the history with Wikinews, prior to his activities here, indicates sustained and long-term abuse of Wikimedia projects and for this reason I think it is worth following through with a report. I seriously doubt he will truly retire; he'll probably just move onto Commons or somewhere. I've been dealing with him since before I was even an admin and I've tried to collect as many of his IPs as possible. I've got more off-site which I'll add to the list. His ISP probably won't do anything but at least if he abuses another project we can say we've done all we can. Cheers, Sarah Ewart 08:49, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- I won't ask how the dog made you take it for a swim :) Well, it's not as easy to troll on Commons, so he'd be ill advised to go there. We should get a comprehensive list of all the IP's he's used, analyse the contributions, and form a report detailing extreme harassment. Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 11:03, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Just letting you know, since other emails have gone poof into thin air, that you should have an email. :) Sarah Ewart 11:08, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- And you have mail too :) Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 11:17, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Daniel, regarding the template, I simply copypasted it from an old revision of {{indefblockeduser}}. --SunStar Nettalk 11:47, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, OK - now it's {{indefblockeduser-big}} :) Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 11:52, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
That's true about Commons. However, I think Wiktionary is possible given he already has accounts there and went there to stalk and harass User:Amgine. Accounts: [8] [9] [10]. There are probably others there, (all three names I tried were open accounts). Also, you should see what his socks did to Amgine's RFA [11], and claims Amgine is "rogue" here on WP [12]. Sarah Ewart 12:37, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- He even wrote fraudulent votes and forged Cartman's sig! Sarah Ewart 12:43, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- That's just ridiculous. Do you know any admins on Wiktionary? If so, I'd tell them to keep an eye out for those, and give a link to all the discussion here (ie. ANI, the SSP page). Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 00:12, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
